Oh boy, it's probably not going to be a great morning for Charlize Theron's PR rep. Last night, news broke that Theron had left Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar" in favor of taking a look at a the lead role, freshly rewritten with her in mind, in Ridley Scott's developing "Alien" prequel. But it appears that's not all that's cooking for the suddenly-very-in-demand actress.

Newcomers Bella Heathcote and Alicia Vikander Also Linked To Role It's been a few months since there was any news on the duelling 'Snow White' projects set up at Universal and Relativity -- the former has newcomer Rupert Sanders attached to direct, the latter visual stylist Tarsem, and while both have had names rumored to be involved, no solid word has come out for some time. But suddenly, the floodgates have opened, with news coming in last night that Relativity want Julia Roberts to play the evil queen in their project, "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White," while, as rumored, Charlize Theron is on the verge of signing on for the equivalent role in Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman."

Michael Fassbender The Frontrunner To Play The Huntsman In Universal's Version Of ProjectHollywood loves its dueling projects racing to get to the screen first. They make for a good story, and generally who ever gets there second doesn't get there at all. See Baz Luhrmann's "Alexander The Great" project with Leonardo DiCaprio that was basically shuttered because Oliver Stone's "Alexander" arrived first, and Toby Jones' "Infamous" that limped unnoticed into theaters when "Capote" and Philip Seymour Hoffman's Oscar-winning performance stole all its heat.

Tom Hardy Will Be Too Busy Being Awesome In 'The Dark Knight Rises'It speaks to how far Tom Hardy has come that his name was in the early mix for the lead in Universal's "The Snow White And The Huntsman," but the timing always seemed a little too close for comfort. The actor will be shooting "This Means War" until December and then will begin work on Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" in the spring. Alas, we'll have to wait a while yet for Hardy to land his own franchise vehicle. However, undaunted, Universal has put an offer to the biggest A-list star there is.

Just a couple of days after we learned Tom Hardy was circling "Snow White And The Huntsman," a bit more potential casting news is trickling forth. While Angelina Jolie was also being courted to join the film, which looks to start shooting in early '11 under neophyte director Rupert Sanders, it seemed more like a longshot studio wish given that the actress is right in the midst of shooting her directorial debut and would most likely be in post-production at that time.

Studio Wants Angelina Jolie For The Villain We reported only a week or so back that, amidst the leagues of fairytale-inspired projects put into development on the back of the billion-dollar success of this year's "Alice in Wonderland," there were not one, not two, but three competing projects on the horizon that focused on the classic story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Disney have the long-gestating "Snow and the Seven," a kung-fu epic which sees the dwarves replaced with Shaolin monks, and Relativity are developing "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White," which Tarsem Singh and Jean-Pierre Jeunet have been linked to.
