Anne Hathaway To Keep Singing In 'Song One,' Jenny Lewis & Johnathan Rice Writing Music For The Film

Around this time last year, "Les Misérables" was still a speck in Oscar prognosticators' eyes, but perhaps Anne Hathaway already sensed her pipes would be taking her places. With the actress seen as a virtual lock to take home a statue this weekend, it looks like she wants to keep on singing. Last May, she started eyeing the movie "Song One," a picture she was slated to produce but wasn't yet locked to star in, but it looks like the wheels are in motion and some very interesting talent will helping to put this one together.

While it might appear that director Jonathan Demme has retreated from the mainstream in recent years, directing a string of documentaries including “Jimmy Carter Man From Plains” and a trio of Neil Young concert films, the director says he’s just been following the projects he finds himself drawn to. “It all depends on what I’m enthusiastic about at the moment, what presents itself,” Demme told The Playlist in an exclusive interview this week. “I love doing fiction. I love doing performance films and I love doing documentaries that don’t have music. I love to shoot and I love to shoot things I’m enthusiastic about.”

Well in case you missed it, the first trailer for "Les Miserables" dropped this morning and if anything, it proved that no matter how scrappy the clothes or terrible the haircut, Anne Hathaway can carry a tune. And it looks like she's got another musical project brewing, though it's not a sure thing just yet.
