The Way, Way Back
Premiering at Sundance in January, and headed to theaters this summer, "The Way, Way Back" is not only riding high with strong notices out of Park City (including our own) but it's also bringing with it a pretty nice little soundtrack for the coming-of-age tale.

The Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp
So, "The Lone Ranger" is coming just over the horizon and while Jerry Bruckheimer is remaining cautious about a sequel -- "It’s always up to the audience. If the audience likes the movie then Disney will come to me and we’ll make another or it will be a one-off," he recently said at the Produced By Conference -- there's no doubt that the studio want to make sure every corner of the pop culture sphere is covered. So behold, the wonky soundtrack...

Yes, it's gonna be full on "Man Of Steel" mania this week. Reviews drop late tonight (including ours) and we've already got things rolling with Superman Movies From Worst To Best -- a way to look back at the franchise before stepping into the reboot later this week. Want to keep on stoking the fires of anticipation?

This Friday, a slightly different kind of summer movie hits theaters with Universal's "The Purge." The film finds Ethan Hawke reteaming James DeMonaco (the writer of the remake of "The Assault Of Precinct 13," director of "Staten Island") for a grimy thriller produced by genre powerhouses Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes. Instead of explosions, spandex and CGI, this film boasts a pretty intriguing premise: in the future, there's no more crime...except on one night of the year of no consequences mayhem known as The Purge. Hawke plays the head of a family who batten down the hatches each year to ride out the evening of terror in the streets, but find themselves fighting for their lives when someone from the outside gets in...

The Heat
It's actually been a little while since we've had a good comedy at the multiplex (sorry "The Hangover Part III"), but Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy are hoping to provide some laughs in a few weeks with "The Heat." The concept is simple and promising: the pair play mismatched Boston cops, and hell, we're still not sure what the actual plot is, not that it matters. But until we can weigh in on the movie, it looks like it'll be bringing an interesting batch of tunes to the table.

Prince Avalanche
Emerging from nowhere to become a Sundance hit, as well as a step forward from the director's left-of-center mainstream work, David Gordon Green's comedy “Prince Avalanche” also finds him in league with past musical collaborators. The talents of Explosions In The Sky and “Take Shelter” composer David Wingo were announced last June, and as the film gears up for release this summer, you can take a look at what the soundtrack has in store.

The Hangover Part III
"The Hangover Part III" brings Todd Phillips' comedy trilogy to a conclusion this weekend (unless that Mr. Chow spin-off becomes a horrifying reality, of course). But if you're looking for a way to extend the party, you can find it with the soundtrack for the movie, which has just been revealed, and is now on sale from Amazon, among other vendors.

We've had our ears on composer duo Fall On Your Sword (aka Will Bates and Phil Mossman) for a while now. The duo have become some of the most in-demand musicians in the indie world over the last few years, thanks to the works on "Another Earth," "Nobody Walks," "Lola Versus" and "28 Hotel Rooms," among others, and we named them as one of our 5 Composers On The Rise earlier this year.

The Bling Ring
Next week the Cannes Film Festival begins, and with it will come a lot of Very Serious Cinema about Important Things, featuring Deep Characters. But, for those looking to get a bit wild, Sofia Coppola will be opening the Un Certain Regard slate with "The Bling Ring," her take on a teen gang of celebrity thieves seeking fame and fortune, by hook or by crook. There will be partying, pole-dancing and all sorts of bad behavior, and as usual, Coppola has selected a pretty fine batch of tunes to go with it.
