Boasting the box office spotlight before the “The Avengers” behemoth came along, “The Hunger Games” nonetheless found a worthy adaptation in director Gary Ross' hands, mixing a stellar performance by Jennifer Lawrence with an effectively gripping tone throughout. After an IMAX victory lap following its general release, Lionsgate is eager to keep the money train rolling, announcing that the two-disc Blu-ray/DVD and digital download versions of the film will be released this summer.

File this under: for completist nerd soundtrack obsessives only (which we sadly fall into quite snugly). OK, you've seen the tracklist for Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom," which features artists like Benjamin Britten, Françoise Hardy, Hank Williams and more. And based on various accounts from Cannes this morning, including our own very positive revew from the Croisette, "Moonrise Kingdom" is certainly Anderson's live-action return to form. We can't wait.

With the end of the world coming, you might think that some truly apocalyptic sounds from bands like Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Mogwai might be appropriate, but at least in the universe of "Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World," it looks like people are going to get reacquainted with old hits and classic tunes as they meet their untimely demise.

Many fans of David Cronenberg have begun to miss the director's freakier films of the past, with the helmer taking on more sober fare in recent years including "A History Of Violence," "Eastern Promises" and "A Dangerous Method." To be certain, none of those efforts were what you would call mainstream, but they lacked the oddball flavor Cronenberg made his name with. Well, "Cosmopolis" should find the Canadian filmmaker returning to those more surreal efforts of the past, and, naturally, he still has few curveballs to deliver.

Starring Greta Gerwig, Zoe Lister Jones, Hamish Linklater and Joel Kinnaman with supporting assistance from Bill Pullman and Debra Winger (who play Gerwig's parents), Daryl Wein's New York-centric romantic comedy "Lola Versus" arrives in theaters on June 8. And we've got the deets on both the soundtrack and score front. Let's start with the score, which was composed by LCD Soundsystem offshoots and  multi-media composers Fall On Your Sword. They've been very busy on the indie-film score front of late, writing the scores to Brit Marling's "Another Earth," the as-yet unreleased Keanu Reeves indie "Generation Umm" and Ry Russo-Young's "You Wont Miss Me," among others. That score is due digitally June 5th and comes out on CD June 12th.

Despite a very underwhelming North American haul ($25 million), "Piranha 3D" did well enough globally ($83 million) to justify a sequel in the eyes of The Weinstein Company. Due June 1st, "Piranha 3DD" now has a soundtrack to accompany it. Scheduled for a May 29th digital release, the 17-track soundtrack features Bay Area "indietronica" band The Limousines, anthemic pop band All The Right Moves, radio-friendly rockers Amber Pacific and to be honest, a whole bunch of bands we've never heard of. A score album by Elia Camiral from Lakeshore Records can be pre-ordered on Amazon as well, if that floats your boat.

It just over two weeks the verdict will be in for Wes Anderson's Cannes Film Festival opener "Moonrise Kingdom" and the fact that it's the director's first period film (taking place in the '60s) isn't the only major change fans can expect.

With its Cannes premiere only a few short weeks away, Walter Salles’ upcoming Kerouac adaptation “On The Road” has almost matched “The Dark Knight Rises” in terms of publicity, with character posters for seemingly every credit on the film and stills galore. You can now add a rich soundtrack to that mix, as details of the album have hit the web.

This summer there are going to be a lot of options at the multiplex, but few will let you indulge your guilty pleasure center as readily as "Rock Of Ages," Adam Shankman's star-studded musical that will bring the Broadway show to the big screen, complete with its surplus of '80s hits and hairspray.
