If it's one thing we love, it's a great Richard Gere performance. After mistakenly labeling 2002 "The Year of Gere" (due to three fine performances in "The Mothman Prophecies," "Unfaithful," and "Chicago"), it looks like this year might actually live up to our really stupid title. Gere stars in "Arbitrage," where he plays a troubled hedge fund magnate, in a performance many are calling a career-best. And soundtrack details have just emerged for the soundtrack companion album, which features the original score by "Drive"/"Contagion" composer Cliff Martinez and a handful of previously released songs from the likes of Bjork, You Say Party!, Stan Getz, Billie Holiday and Robi Botos.

Amidst all the hoity-toity awards fare and sober dramas this fall, RZA will storm theaters with his directorial debut "The Man With The Iron Fists." The film, which looks to be a wickedly over the top martial arts flick delivered the way only a member of the Wu-Tang Clan knows how, will unsurprisingly feature a heavy duty soundtrack to go with it.

Every good teen movie needs a soundtrack of great tunes to go with it. For the upcoming "The Perks Of Being A Wallflower," it looks like the filmmakers have to put together one helluva mixtape that will make those who came of age in the '80s and '90s swoon, and perhaps turn some younger music fans on to some decent artists.

Yes, Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" is on the way, and where once secrecy and mystery reigned, now it seems we can't get enough info about the movie, what with the release of new posters, images and a confirmation this morning that it will be in the TIFF. And now, full details on Jonny Greenwood's score and the rest of the soundtrack to the film have dropped.

While she has definitely earned her stripes as the frontwoman for the acclaimed rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O has also been making some impressive steps in the movie soundtrack world. She memorably contributed a brace of music to Spike Jonze's excellent "Where The Wild Things Are," and last year howled on the cover version of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" for David Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." But now she's moving back toward something for kids, contributing "Strange Love," a brand new song, to Tim Burton's ghoulish "Frankenweenie." And she's not the only interesting choice on the soundtrack.

Frenemies that become phone-sex besties. That's the premise of the Sundance indie comedy "For a Good Time, Call..." Starring Ari Graynor ("The Sitter") and Lauren Miller with appearances by Seth Rogen, Justin Long, Mimi Rogers, James Wolk, Mark Webber, Nia Vardalos and more, Focus Features is releasing the film on August 31.

If we were allowed to talk about these things (which, of course, we're not), we would say that "ParaNorman," the new stop-motion animated film from Laika opening August 17th in 3D and regular cinemas, isn't just the best animated movie released so far this year (not to mention one of the biggest surprises this summer's dreary movie landscape has to offer) – but that it's one of the best movies of the year, period. And a big part of "ParaNorman" casting its ghoulish spell on you is the perfectly calibrated score by Jon Brion, a witches brew that is equal parts orchestral bombast and '80s slasher movie cheese. Thankfully, we won't have long to wait for the album, as Pitchfork reports that it will be released (via Relativity Music Group) on August 14th, just a few days before the movie comes out.

You gotta hand it to Summit. It seems they don't fear Gotham's reckoning nor the comedy powers of Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller, as at the end of the month, they'll be dropping "Step Up Revolution," the fourth entry in the surprisingly still-running franchise in which teenagers solve their problems through the power of dance. And while the budgets might have gotten smaller, the music department still seems to have the same latitude to spend.

....because there hasn't been a story about "The Dark Knight Rises" in the last twelve hours or so, here's another helping from the movie, although we're not sure what the benefit is of listening to the score before you see the flick.
