Elle Fanning How To Talk To Girls At Parties
The long developing adaptation of Neil Gaiman's short story "How To Talk To Girls At Parties" is finally getting a bit of traction. Elle Fanning will star in the "two-hander love story focusing on a schoolboy and ‎punk who uses music and art as a way to escape and a female alien tourist (Fanning) who wants to escape her tour group and explore the most dangerous place in the galaxy, the London suburb of Croydon." So, a less murder-y version of "Under The Skin"? John Cameron Mitchell ("Shortbus") co-wrote the script and will direct.

Meryl Streep Maria Callas
While Hollywood has tried for years to mount a Maria Callas biopic (we haven't heard much about Niki Caro's developing movie for a while now), it's not like it hasn't been done. Over a decade ago, Fanny Ardant toplined Franco Zeffirelli's "Callas Forever," and now Meryl Streep — who will be showing off her pipes later this year in "Into The Woods" — is giving it a go.

With "Pirates Of The Caribbean 5" simply an inevitability at this point -- it's already slated for a 2015 release, joining Disney's insane line-up that year -- it looks like the studio wants to keep costs down. Surely, Johnny Depp will be negotiating a Robert-Downey-Jr-making-$50-million-for-The-Avengers sized deal and taking a cut of the back end, which means that in the director's chair, a newer, cheaper face will be given a shot. So that means no Rob Marshall or Gore Verbinski, but perhaps one of these guys.

Looks like Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are having a great week. First, their film “Kon-Tiki” gets nominated for an Oscar on Thursday for Best Foreign Language Film. Now, they look to capitalize on all of their recent success, signing a seven-figure deal to helm a big Hollywood film. And one that could be the start of a potential franchise.
