You can practically feel it, winter is nearing an end and spring is just around the corner. This weekend clocks jump forward, the weather is getting warmer and the snow is beginning to give way to pavement. But Harmony Korine and co. aren't waiting for Mother Nature to play nice. In a couple of weeks the babe and bikini-filled "Spring Breakers" will come crashing into theaters, and now you can get a bit of an aural preview.

It's been a long, dark couple of months at the start of 2013, with not all that much that's been worth seeing, bar a few bright spots like "Side Effects" and "No." But as the days start to get sunnier and warmer (we hope so, at least, or we're going to jump off something tall fairly soon), the prospects at movie theaters are improving a bit too.

If somehow the "Spring Breakers" featurette, new poster and Cahiers Du Cinema cover (seriously) from earlier today weren't enough for you, here's yet another red band taste of Harmony Korine's neon glazed latest.

You can trust us on this one, folks; Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers” is going to comfortably be the highest grossing film of the director’s career to date. In fact, if we had to go out on a limb, we’d say that he’s unlikely to ever match it. The film will go into limited release on March 15th a week before it goes wide, it's secured distribution in most major European and Antipodean territories over the next few months, and it’s not exactly the hardest product to market. Images from the film stick out like a sore, fluorescent thumb whenever they’re posted online, and any film that heavily features a headline-attracting pop starlet and the former star of a massively successful Disney franchise clad in skimpy bikinis is going to have a sizable built-in audience.

With the Oscars over, it looks like we are finally ready to stop talking about last year’s movies and keep our focus entirely on this year’s crop of films. Well, most of us are ready to do that. Annapurna Pictures has posted a nifty little sizzle reel on their site showcasing the collection of challenging adult dramas that they’ve released and/or have been involved with over the past year. This includes clips from "Lawless," "The Master," "Zero Dark Thirty," "Killing Them Softly," "Spring Breakers" (premiered in Venice last summer) and "The Grandmaster" (premiered in Berlin a few weeks ago), with the latter two set to be released theatrically this year. The reel is a must watch for fans of any or all of these films.

For the past few months we've been eating a steady diet of awards season fare, glossy blockbusters and studio throwaways. But soon the Oscars will be over, and we'll be needing some kind of cinematic release. So, it's a good thing that Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers" is right around the corner, and it's an even better thing that it looks brilliantly bonkers.

By the look of its teaser material, the spring break of the upcoming “Spring Breakers” was set to be a rowdy one with or without Skrillex. Nevertheless, the filmmakers got him on board, along with a host of other talent to provide the bass drops for Harmony Korine's upcoming movie.

There are few provocateurs who continue to delight, surprise and shock, yet still remain as unpredictable as Harmony Korine. If anyone would have guessed that after the ugly (and awesome) lo-fi wonder "Trash Humpers" he would have turned around and made a (relatively) mainstream, neon-soaked movie with a bunch of teen starlets, we'd like to meet them. But as always, just when you think it's going to go right, Korine goes left.

At one time, it seemed inconceivable that enfant terrible Harmony Korine would do anything close to courting the mainstream, let alone shoot a picture with folks like James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Ashley Benson. But after the awesomely lo-fi audience provocation "Trash Humpers," it seems kind of logical that Korine would make something to appeal to the folks who couldn't make it to the end of that movie. And so: "Spring Breakers." And get ready, because it's gonna get wet.
