At a multiplex not so far away, in a galaxy you already live in, you are going be getting a whole lot more "Star Wars" very, very soon and on an annual basis. Just like filing your taxes and rotating your tires, the "Star Wars" franchise is going to become a yearly ritual.

Rumors have been quiet recently surrounding "Star Wars: Episode 7," but once the press gauntlet begins soon for "Star Trek Into Darkness," and J.J. Abrams gets inevitably grilled about his plans, we'll have plenty more updates. But until then, leave it to Patton Oswalt -- who, as fans know, is a man who knows his way around the "Star Wars" universe -- to awesomely and hilariously weigh in on 'Episode 7' with a nearly genius, 8-minute-long outtake from "Parks and Recreation."

When the famously tight-lipped J.J. Abrams was announced earlier this year as the director of “Star Wars: Episode VII,” it was both a surprise and the obvious choice. And while many argued about what it means to have the same man in charge of both “Star Wars” and “Star Trek,” what will happen with the inevitable “Star Trek 3,” and whether or not Abrams is a pig, the filmmaker has stayed as silent as always. With six weeks to go until “Star Trek Into Darkness” and the press tour gearing up to begin, Abrams has decided to get out ahead of the curve and talk about “Star Wars.”

George Lucas Confirms Negotiations For Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher & Harrison Ford For 'Star Wars: Episode 7'
So, let's just recap where we're at. In February, we saw a lot of chatter start surfacing about the original "Star Wars" cast returning for "Star Wars: Episode 7" with Harrison Ford reportedly confirmed, Carrie Fisher seemingly saying she was back too (though her rep now says she was joking) while Mark Hamill stated he actually hadn't signed yet. All of this talk was further buoyed when more news surfaced that said the trio were indeed coming back, and the plot for 'Episode 7' would center on their children. In short, there has been a lot of signs pointing in the direction they'll be back, but not much in the way of official word. Well, George Lucas himself has now commented.

There have been a number of questions and rumors surrounding “Star Wars: Episode VII” ever since its original announcement, especially regarding the cast. After it was announced last month that Harrison Ford will most likely be returning to play Han Solo, the attention then turned to whether or not Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher would be returning as well. While we’ve already heard rumors that they might come back, Fisher herself has recently confirmed that she will indeed be coming back to the franchise.

Michael Haneke is one of Europe’s leading filmmakers and has produced some of the most powerful, unflinching films to come out of the continent over the course of the last 25 years. He’s a perennial favourite at Cannes and has two Palme d’Ors, a Grand Prix and Best Director award from the festival to his name, but it wasn’t until this year that he became better known to a much wider audience. That in part was surely down to the five Oscar nominations “Amour” received (including Best Director and Best Picture), but we’re betting it was mostly to do with that parody twitter account.

People are desperate for any news about what J.J. Abrams and co. are cooking up for "Star Wars: Episode 7," so even thin rumors from sources like the generally totally out there MarketSaw tend to be speculated upon. But sometimes you just gotta know better, and this appears to be one of those times. With the site claiming that Alfonso Cuaron was being considered to helm one of the sequels, they also casually tossed in this morsel from their source: "...expect Simon Pegg to be involved in some capacity. Can't say why, but lets just say I have a strong feeling about that." But the actor himself has addressed those rumors.

Another day, and more chatter about "Star Wars: Episode VII" and where it may or may not be headed. Yesterday came rumors that the upcoming film would revolve around the children of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo. And now, Mark Hamill himself has weighed in, and while he claims not to be sure where the next movie is going (we'd wager he's being a little coy), he does indicate he has enough information to take a pretty educated guess about what the next chapter in the saga will bring.

Last week's news that Harrison Ford could be returning to reprise the role of Han Solo in J.J Abrams' "Star Wars Episode VII" was, if true, big news for fans of the franchise. It means that there'll be clear continuity between the classic films and the new ones, and means that there'll be a chance for them to see arguably the most beloved character in the franchise on the big screen, played by the man who embodied him, before the mooted Solo-centric prequel.

In the instance of top directors announcing their latest projects, you can bet a select few composers are confidently clearing their calendars for work to come. But while Christopher Nolan and Peter Jackson rely on Hans Zimmer and Howard Shore for iconic scores, both composers in turn hold parts of franchise iconography for iterations to come -- a matter thrown into relief lately with J.J. Abrams’ take on “Star Wars” and its musical direction.
