J.J. Abrams, 'Star Wars'
We are still eighteen long months away from "Star Wars: Episode 7" landing in theatres, and there is much more news to come. While we now know a good chunk of the official cast, there is still more to come, and though fans were hoping for some additional information this past Star Wars Day, all they got was greeting from director J.J. Abrams and writer Lawrence Kasdan. One of the biggest questions about the upcoming sequel—aside from the actual plot—is what the title might be. And today comes a rumor about what it might be.

May the fourth be with you! As you know, Star Wars Day is here, and while fans were hoping for casting announcements....those broke earlier this week. So what's left? Well, if you're a fan of the extended universe, the first full trailer for the animated series "Star Wars Rebels" dropped (see below) giving fans a storyline that takes place between 'Episode III' and 'Episode IV.' But if you really want to know more about the movie, you're gonna have to wait.

Months of speculation preceded the official cast announcement of "Star Wars: Episode 7" earlier this week (which we went into further detail about right here), and while many rushed to write thinkpieces about the lack of diversity and women in the film, it was perhaps a bit premature. There is still more casting to come, including a major female role, which means there is likely more speculation to come before everything is locked down. But until we know more, here's a bit of trivia you might want to hang on to.

The 'Star Wars: Episode VII' Cast, playlist image
Just when we think we're out, they pull us back in. With many of us here a little jaded about the prospect, not so much of the film itself, but of the months of speculation and debate and wringing wild meaning from the tiddiest of bits that lie between us and the premiere of "Star Wars: Episode VII" in December 2015, we were adopting a firm wait-and-see attitude toward casting rumors, and toward what those rumors might mean for the story. Well, we waited and saw, and yesterday's casting confirmation kind of had the effect of vaudeville-yanking us off the stage of our indifference: it's an intriguing, and we have to say, not obvious, lineup.

Star Wars: Episode VII Cast
With a single black and white photo, any other news items regretted their timing, and thirteen actors’ agents breathed a sigh of relief. Yes, the confirmed cast of “Star Wars: Episode VII” was announced yesterday to a positive reception, with much-discussed locks like Adam Driver joining welcome surprises like Max von Sydow. But now that the lineup has brought us a clearer image of J.J. Abrams’ new direction, it’s worth pointing out that there’s much more to come.

“Star Wars” fans. They’re so demanding. May 4th, Star Wars Day is alleged d-day for casting, the day most of the cast will be revealed, but that doesn’t stop audiences—hell, even bloggers—from demanding “reveal the damn cast already.” Well, we might be getting closer. Because no one really knows nothing, the latest rumors have been running wild and free for a while. But because names are coming up over and over again, perhaps these rumors are starting to solidify.

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi
Yeah, we know. If you're a diehard "Star Wars" fan, this is not really news at all, but confirmation of what you already know. But for the more casual viewer, or those who were perhaps hoping that the upcoming sequels would roll the dice with the established worlds and timelines laid out in George Lucas' six "Star Wars" movies, this bit of info is probably worth knowing.

Benedict Cumberbatch
So much for all those rumors. Latino Review insisted back in September of last year that Benedict Cumberbatch would be in “Star Wars: Episode VII” and any denials from his camp would need be taken in the same way as his deflections early on about playing Khan in "Star Trek Into Darkness" (which turned out to be true).
