J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan may be pouring enormous effort into retooling writer Michael Arndt's original draft of “Star Wars: Episode VII," but after Disney's refusal of producer Kathleen Kennedy's request to consequently delay production, Abrams and co. are forced to also push right ahead with locking a cast to deliver it. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher have already been involved in negotiations to return, but more curious are the new faces to the “Star Wars” universe, and the latest one rumored is an exciting prospect triggered by an uncertain sighting.

Star Wars: Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan
With the "Star Wars" YouTube channel suddenly posting vintage trailers for the original series of films in the last month or so, and with the one-year anniversary of Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm arriving this week, many fans thought perhaps there would be some kind of official announcement this week about "Star Wars: Episode 7." Perhaps J.J. Abrams secretly shot some kind of teaser? Maybe we'd get the title already? But instead, it looks like there are some issues to sort out behind the scenes.

OK, don't push the panic button yet, but maybe a little bit of uh oh if you're a hardcore "Star Wars" fan and you demand to see "Star Wars: Episode VII" in theaters summer 2015 as "promised" (read: the intended, hopeful date—shit happens). And yes, because Disney/LucasFilm/Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J Abrams did not deign to reveal "Stars Wars: Episode VII" news at Comic-Con 2013 or at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, rumors have popped up for months saying 'Ep VII' wouldn't be ready for summer 2015.

Another day, another morsel of "Star Wars" rumors, which is basically how it's going to go until 2015, so just deal with it. So what do we have today? How about the actual name of "Star Wars: Episode 7"?

Star Wars Harrison Ford
For an actor over 70, Harrison Ford sure has his choice of projects that will keep generating income for his bank account, long after he's hung up his acting cap. It was just yesterday he was talking about potentially reprising his role as Deckard for "Blade Runner 2," but the project he's long been rumored for that seems more likely to happen is "Star Wars: Episode 7." However, it would appear the ever crochety thesp is still playing it coy about returning as Han Solo.

As long as there has been talk about the developing "Blade Runner" sequel, Harrison Ford's name has been in the mix, even though it doesn't make much sense narratively. "I don't think it'll be Harrison [starring]. But I've got to have him in it somewhere. That'd be amusing," Ridley Scott said last year, and it seems he's not joking.

Star Wars George Lucas
Barely a week has passed since word was kicking around about the future of the "Star Wars" franchise, which is now sitting in the hands of J.J. Abrams, and even though 'Episode 7' is still a distance from its 2015, it seems it's all anyone can talk about. Moreover, it looks like George Lucas is feeling a bit conflicted about not being a bigger part of that conversation.

We're at the stage of "Star Wars: Episode 7" where we have to assemble a very crude understanding of the upcoming movie based on Internet speculation, carefully phrased quotes, rumors and more which is to say: we know nothing. But after a while, certain things begin to stick and build steam, while others slip away, and if we would hazard an outside guess, the next installment might feature a youthful, potentially ass-kicking female lead. And perhaps be a Jedi as well.

J.J. Abrams is not a fan of 3D. While this summer's "Star Trek Into Darkness" arrived in both IMAX and 3D, the latter was a conversion job, and Abrams later admitted it was something he was forced to do for "economic reasons." He's long expressed his reservations about the 3D format, but it seems he's taken a shine to IMAX, and we may have a reason to see the next entry of the "Star Wars" saga on the biggest screen possible.
