Delivery Man
Few actors carry the ability of Vince Vaughn in conveying an unique type of smooth-talking weariness, but 51 films into his career that expression has seeped over into the work itself. The jittery wiseguys of “Swingers” and “Return to Paradise” have aged into truly desperate futures; the films that they now inhabit carry only a high-concept logline, a new, forgettable occupation for Vaughn to try, and hopefully a few laughs to render the whole thing serviceable. To the credit of “Delivery Man,” which sees NYC schlub David Wozniak (Vaughn) discovering that his old sperm bank haunt has erred and resulted in 533 of his biological children being produced, Vaughn’s occupation is a little more memorable this time.

This weekend's release docket may inspire even the most cynical of cinephiles to wax a little nostalgic about their younger days. The reminiscence upon past events, eras and moments which we paint with the strokes of simplicity and unadulterated joy is one we all deign to indulge in once in a while. And with so many vehicles to quench that thirst so close at hand, we recommend dropping all pretense and just letting the nostalgia wave crash over you in the darkness of the theaters. Stories are here to spark memories of your first love, your transition to adulthood, your successes and failures as a young adult, your first hostage crisis in the White House.

We love Chris Pratt, but you already knew that. The "Parks and Recreation" star has been steamrolling into movies with a nice turn in last year's "Moneyball," a supporting part in this spring's "Five-Year Engagement," a role in Kathryn Bigelow's upcoming "Zero Dark Thirty," and has bagged the lead in Warner Bros.' "Lego." And now he's gearing up to exercise his ample comedic muscles in "Starbuck," a remake of the French Canadian hit that's set to star Vince Vaughn. The story centers on a middle-aged man whose life changes when he finds out that he has fathered 533 children through sperm donation, and that a few hundred of those children have expressed the wish to meet their biological father. Pratt will play Vaughn's lawyer. The film is being written and directed by the original helmer Ken Scott, and will roll in front of cameras later this year.

Well, this is moving along much faster than we had anticipated. Only a couple of weeks ago it was announced that DreamWorks acquired the rights to Ken Scott’s French-Canadian hit comedy “Starbuck,” with plans to remake it with Scott writing and directing all over again. Well, the movie now has a big star attached.

You know what's awesome? Hollywood remakes of foreign language films! Not only are they entirely necessary, but they are also always better than the original film -- so it’s with great delight that we are able to report on another one of said Hollywood remakes.
