Granted, we're still not sure what to make of Zack Snyder's fantasy action pic "Sucker Punch," but his imagination has also extended to the soundtrack, which is mostly made up of iconic songs being covered by some recognizable acts as well as members of the cast.

With just over a month to go until Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch," this writer thinks Warner Bros. still has a lot of work to do. The brainchild of Snyder the film is an ambitious fantasy action pic but the marketing still doesn't look like it's doing anything but appealing to the niche of fans who are already sold on the film. Basically, to anyone who hasn't been following the film, they won't have any clue what this blitzkrieg of images and music actually means. As one of the Playlist better halves asked us recently: "Is that the medieval Spice Girls movie?"

New Pics Of 'Red Riding Hood' & 'Sucker Punch' TooThis week seems to be bringing us a bounty of first looks with "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and "Spider-Man" earning much buzz over the past couple of days. But it doesn't end there as in the pages of the latest Entertainment Weekly, some new pics (not yet online) of a couple of major comedies and fantasy pics have hit; perhaps studios want to get this stuff out before the entire movie world focuses on Sundance next week..

Tentpoles That Hopefully Are Fun, Indies That May Or May Not Be Quality, Etc.You could see our annual three sets of anticipated film features like this: the Most Anticipated is an earnest example of the films we're truly looking forward to the most in that year, with a few caveats listed within if you read closely (i.e., we're looking forward to it, but the writing might be on the wall). Then our Escapist, Popcorn piece is more like: these are the fun, entertaining films of the year that may or may not be good. For us and our taste, it's always a bit of a toss up and history shows that we're generally on the money in terms of how we'll feel about the eventual product (not because we're biased, but because we know our own taste, blah, blah, blah). That said, we always try and remain as positive as possible. Frankly, if you're going to make super-hero films, sci-fi action films, fantasy/adventure films, etc. we want them to be good as touchstones such as "The Dark Knight," "The Lord Of The Rings," "Inception," etc., but obviously those films set the bar a little higher than what your average film from these genres generally aim for.

We're right on the verge of hitting 2011 (look out for our mammoth preview pieces next week), and one of the highest profile pictures in the early part of the year is Zack Snyder's passion project "Sucker Punch." Warner Bros. are hoping that by giving one of their key directors (who is, after all, next set to tackle the crown jewel of "Superman") a huge budget to indulge his own interests, they'll be able to match the success they had with the same approach on Christopher Nolan's "Inception."

Well, this has to be one of the most aggravating sneak peeks in a while. Five different clips, none longer than ten seconds, have dropped online each with a brief orgasm of random shots of shit blowing up real good in Zack Snyder's forthcoming wet dream, "Sucker Punch."

Wait, Isn't Jon Hamm Meant To Be In This? Despite two box office disappointments on the trot in "Watchmen" and "Legend of the Guardians," Warner Bros. are big fans of director Zack Snyder. They've given him the keys to their crown jewel by appointing him the director of the "Superman" reboot, and, like that film's producer Christopher Nolan, have funded an out-there passion project, in this case Snyder's first original script, "Sucker Punch." The gamble with Nolan payed off handsomely on "Inception," artistically and commercially, and a full trailer for Snyder's film hit Apple overnight -- could it possibly hope to match the success of that film?
