Every year studios tend to overestimate their tentpoles and then end up delaying them a year or more. 2013 saw an unprecedented amount of blockbusters originally slated for 2012 get pushed back six months off their originally intended bow: "The Great Gatsby," "World War Z," "Man Of Steel," "Jack The Giant Slayer," the list goes on (we took a deeper look at these films earlier in the year, see "The Delayed Films Of 2013: Why They Were Pushed Back & Which Ones Will You Be Seeing?"). The latest casualty is Warner Bros. "300: Rise Of An Empire," and it's easy to see why.

The horse yelling, the 6-pack abs and spray tan are back. Keeping an industry alive, Warner Bros. "300" sequel is coming and with about four months to go until it hits theaters, "300: Rise Of An Empire" is kicking off its marketing campaign with a couple of first look images.

Marvel sure does like their British and Aussie actors. With "Guardians Of The Galaxy" now less than two years from release, the studio is starting to get the cast in place for what is easily the most ambitious project on their slate (it has an alien tree creature and a pistol-wielding, talking raccoon, guys), and a ridiculously long laundry list of actors have been revealed as possibilities to star.

Greg Mclean didn't exactly replicate the success of his break-out horror flick "Wolf Creek" with croc-thriller follow-up "Rogue." And while it seemed he was set to shoot a sequel to "Wolf Creek" early this year, legal troubles have since delayed the production, with no end in sight. The delay, however, might just be a blessing in disguise, with the helmer now set to tackle a new Australian thriller with an exciting cast in tow.

Last week, we took a look at the relative dearth of leading men in Hollywood: why Tom Cruise, Will Smith et al remain at the top of the tree, and why so few serious competitors have emerged since. But one of the most exciting things about our job is getting to watch the new names that emerge, breakouts who have the potential to join the A-listers, or at the very least, deliver a host of hugely exciting performances for decades to come.

From one "Animal Kingdom" star to another. Late last year, Aussie actor-of-the-moment Joel Edgerton ("Warrior") was rumored to be in line for several Warner Bros. projects including "The Man From U.N.C.L.E," and the untitled "300" prequel (sometimes known as "300: Battle Of Artemisia"). Well, Edgerton never really landed in either gig, but one of his Aussie "Animal Kingdom" pals, Sullivan Stapleton has.

We try and keep up with television, we really do, but there is only so much time in the day and Lord knows, our channel flipping rarely ever takes us to Cinemax so forgive us if we've never heard of "Strike Back." But whether or not we watch it doesn't matter as people in Hollywood clearly have and Sullivan Stapleton is now trading up into a movie role.
