Greek filmmaker Giorgos Lanthimos has won praise from prestigious film festivals and critics, as well as from some of our own Playlist staffers, for his Oscar-nominated “Dogtooth” and the recent “Alps.” However, a key component to the success of both films (and their outrageous concepts) has long been co-writer Efthymis Filippou, who’s lent his pen to both of Lanthimos’ acclaimed works.

Most of the line-up's been announced already, and off the top of our heads, it's the most promising that Park City has seen in quite some time. With an impressive array of titles from seasoned vets to the newcomers that Sundance was made for, 2012 in Park City should be a blast.

Geez, just when you think you have a handle on this year's awards race, the Sundance Film Festival has dropped their first wave of titles headed to Park City in January, and this is the start of the Oscar journey for many movies. This year alone saw Brit Marling break out with "Another Earth" and "Sound of My Voice," Felicity Jones impress with "Like Crazy," Elizabeth Olsen earn Oscar talk with "Martha Marcy May Marlene" and other movies of note unspooling, including "Being Elmo," "Margin Call," "Circumstance," "Our Idiot Brother," "The Interrupters," "Undefeated" and more.
