For the last few years, the Sundance hasn't just been in Utah in January: as of 2012, the most famous independent film festival in the world has been crossing the pond for an extended weekend in April for Sundance London. Bringing a few highlights from January's Park City festival, along with a few surprises (the fest has a particular emphasis on music), it takes place at the 02 in London's Greenwich, and has been a pretty nifty little time when we've attended in the past, with a good chance for UK audiences to catch films weeks, months or even years ahead of their eventual bow.

Lake Bell
Sundance London was something of a homecoming for actress/writer/director/producer Lake Bell. Though born in New York, Bell began her career studying acting at London's Rose Bruford College, a stone's throw away from the O2 complex where the festival was taking place. And what better place could there be for the international premiere of the feature directorial debut from the star, who's consistently impressed both in TV roles like "How To Make It In America" and "Children's Hospital," and on the big screen in the likes of "It's Complicated" and "Pride & Glory."

Lynn Shelton is nothing if not prolific. Since her 2006 feature debut "We Go Way Back," she's made five films, and since "Humpday" became a crossover hit, she's only gotten busier; that film was followed by "Your Sister's Sister" in 2011, and barely a year later, she was back with another feature, "Touchy Feely," which premiered at Sundance back in January. And in between all of that (plus occasional cameos in the likes of "Safety Not Guaranteed" and "Prince Avalanche"), she's become an in-demand TV director, with her work including episodes of "Mad Men," "Ben & Kate" and "New Girl."

The trouble with being multi-talented is that you can't be in more than one place at once. And so it is with Lake Bell. The actress has been a reliable scene-stealer over the last decade or so, but she's been mostly absent from our screens of late, having spent much of the last few years prepping her thoroughly enjoyable directorial debut "In A World..." (she was even missing from much of the last season of the excellent "Children's Hospital," although she directed a couple of episodes).
