Escape Plan
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone fighting is pretty much the single selling point of the otherwise bland-looking "Escape Plan," which features a title that's practically straight-to-video-bin ready. Considering these guys can barely muster a hit outside of "The Expendables" lately, they are likely hoping that combined, they find some greater success.

Grudge Match, De Niro, Stallone, Kevin Hart
Well, we'll give the trailer for "Grudge Match" this much credit: for a premise that could so easily devolve into Rocky vs. Jake LaMotta gags, there's only one direct reference to Sylvester Stallone's franchise and it's actually tolerable and tasteful. So kudos. As for the rest?

Homefront
"Homefront," a movie we had no idea even existed until literally fifteen minutes ago, sounds kind of enjoyable in a junky, nothing-else-is-playing kind of way. It stars Jason Statham, king of B-grade action movies, as a former DEA agent who returns to his home down only to get hassled by a drug kingpin named gator (James Franco, of course). And if all of that wasn't enough to get your tough guy appreciation levels up, the movie was written by none other than Sylvester Stallone, whose script is based on a novel by Chuck Hogan ("The Town"). And now the first photos from the November release have debuted courtesy of USA Today. Testosterone-y!

If there is one man who knows how to keep franchises not only viable, but continually growing, it's Sylvester Stallone. It was just last month, we learned that "Rocky" would be getting in the ring again, this time as the spinoff "Creed," with "Fruitvale Station" director and star, Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan involved, along with Sly himself. And now, another one of Stallone's brands is getting dusted off and instead of heading to the multiplex, it's going to the small screen.

Sylvester Stallone Is Mad At Bruce Willis Over $1 Million Dollars

What's a million dollars between friends (or colleagues)? Apparently, a lot. As you might remember, the cinematic world did a collective HUH? when it was announced earlier this week that Harrison Ford was stepping into "The Expendables 3," while Bruce Willis was exiting. But the news was made all the more fascinating when in a tweet, Stallone called John McClane "greedy" and "lazy." Now it seems the story behind that animosity has surfaced.

At the Zurich Film Festival back in 2008, they had muscle-bound multi-hyphenate Sylvester Stallone as special guest to talk about his career as an actor, writer and director. After a couple of seconds of cheesy photo-ops (with Stallone striking some Rocky-esque) poses, it becomes a thoughtful look at his career and about the filmmaking process in general, with the host, claiming that Stallone exists in a small fraternity of writer/director/actors who have had as long and varied a career (among them Orson Welles and Laurence Olivier).

‘Fruitvale Station’ Director & Star Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan Making ‘Rocky’ Spinoff ‘Creed’ With Sylvester Stallone

To be certain, the "Fruitvale Station" team of director Ryan Coogler and star Michael B. Jordan spent some considerable time wrapped up in the devastating true story that anchored their Sundance and Cannes selected film. And with the recent outcome of the George Zimmerman trial following the death of Trayvon Martin, it once again brought up those issues of race and class as the duo were out promoting the film. So perhaps something lighter isn't exactly surprising, but you may be taken aback by the upcoming project's shape.

Sylvester Stallone is rounding up his latest batch of actors for “The Expendables 3,” and that means a return to nostalgic casting, likely performed by spinning a circular rack of '80s VHS titles and headbutting a winner. Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes, and Mickey Rourke were the latest names to join up, proving a victory after Chan hesitated before, and now another star discussed early on is getting some screen time as well.

"But it's supposed to be dumb!" certain audiences cry, when defending whatever dim action movie is causing chatter, which this week is "White House Down." While we hoped it would qualify as dumb yet awesome, it's just plain awful, with a self-seriousness that extinguishes whatever fun it might be trying to have with the genre. And yeah, we'd reckon the same applies to this latest offering from Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzene

“The Expendables” franchise seems like both a blessing and a bit of a curse for Sylvester Stallone and his team of aging action stars. While the franchise itself has proven to be a hit, it hasn’t exactly been a career re-launcher for guys like Stallone and Schwarzengger whose films “Bullet to the Head” and “The Last Stand” proved to be unsuccessful in the box office this year. Still, at least they all have a franchise to fall back on and it’s fun to see what kind of a cast Stallone can conjure up for the next “Expendables” film. Speaking of which, Stallone has recently taken to Twitter to tease us all about who might show up for “Expendables 3.”
