Certain corners of the internet get worked up about silly things. For example: a year ago, when Michael Bay (who is producing "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles") said that, “These turtles are from an alien race, and they’re going to be tough, edgy, funny, and completely lovable,” nerds lost their shit. Message boards lit up, underoos were burned, controversy gripped the nation. Okay, not really, but folks got unreasonably bent out of shape about a movie about mutant ninja turtles. But it's all cool now bro, as Bay is here to assuage the audience he hopes will show up for this thing, that original origin story is intact.

So, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" are still coming in the Micheal Bay produced franchise reboot, the casting continues to be intriguingly random. Thus far we have Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello) and Noel Fisher (Michelangelo) as the heroes on the half shell, Megan Fox as April O'Neil and Will Arnett in a role being kept under wraps. But you can take Splinter off the list of possibilities as to who Gob Bluth will play.

We suppose the plan by director Jonathan Liebesman is set to everyone's expectations so low that the end result of whatever "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" turns out to be it can be anything but better than what the first impressions are giving off. With April O'Neill being played by Megan Fox and the four turtles by dudes we never heard of -- Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Pete Ploszek (Leonardo), Jeremy Howard (Donatello) and Noel Fisher (Michelangelo) -- now there's some more random casting.

Having landed its Raphael just before in the weekend in the shape of "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" actor Alan Ritchson, Michael Bay hasn't hung around before locking down the rest of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" for the mo-cap-heavy reboot of the comic/animation franchise he's producing for director Jonathan Liebesman. Deadline report that the mutant quartet is being filled out by Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Noel Fisher as Michelangelo. The latter's perhaps the best-known of the quartet, having previously appeared in Liebsesman's "Battle: Los Angeles," as well as "Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part Two" and "Hatfields & McCoys." Howard seems to be a complete newcomer, while Ploszek is our immediate favorite of the four, given that he appeared in an episode of "Parks & Recreation." The four join Megan Fox in the film, which opens on May 20th, 2014.

Despite that sacrificial ritual we did a while back to try and ensure otherwise, the Michael Bay-produced "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie continues to insist on being an actual thing. Our hopes were raised when the film was shut down a while back due to budgetary issues, but it was retooled and is now ticking towards the start of production with Megan Fox cast as female lead April O'Neil a while back.

'TMNT' Co-Creator Peter Laird Says There Are "Hundreds Of Better Choices" Than Megan Fox For April O'Neil Role

After adjusting herself well to supporting comedy roles in “Friends with Kids” and “This is 40,” we were optimistic for more than a career detour for Megan Fox, but alas, Michael Bay has denied that wish. The director has lured her back with his delayed “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot and likely the character of April O'Neil, but now one involved party -- the comic's creator Peter Laird -- remains pretty confused about the entire decision.

Well, that was fast. Aside from "Jonah Hex," and "Passion Play," where intentions were good, Megan Fox hasn't been in a truly terrible movie since, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" (let's not speak of "Jennifer's Body" shall we?) The actress fell out with director Michael Bay in 2008 in the aftermath of the critical hazing the film received and seemed to be taking a promising detour from blockbuster shlock with interesting roles in smaller comedies like "Friends With Kids," and Judd Apatow's "ThIs Is 40." But is that excursion over already?

While the Michael Bay-produced “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” reboot continues to fight its way through leaked script drafts and halted production borne from budget issues, the spotlight has forced its way over on “Turtles' co-creator Kevin Eastman, who has the necessary job of keeping interest piqued. For him, that means name-checking every successful film of the last few years, apparently.

Earlier this week, fans of the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle” franchise (who still wear footy pajamas and eat cereal stuffed with marshmallows) became incensed when an early version of the proposed remake’s script (entitled “Ninja Turtles” and written by “Alias” alums Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec) was both posted and reviewed by website TMNT NOT TANT (the website’s name is a reference to the reboot’s extraterrestrial origin for the characters). Paramount, who is set to distribute the Platinum Dunes-produced project in the summer of 2014, ordered the script to be taken down, and now Michael Bay, one of the film’s producers, has spoken about the script (Latino Review spotted his comments, via Screen Rant).
