Welcome to the big time Sarah Gadon. Granted, she kinda already has after bagging the female lead for Universal's "Dracula," but the actress who has recently been cutting her teeth on Cronenberg father/son films ("A Dangerous Method," "Cosmopolis," "Antiviral") is now spinning an even bigger web.

Well, the rumor mill continues to churn today around "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," with the addition of Canadian actress Sarah Gadon. Rumor has it that she's taking the Mary Jane Watson role left vacant by Shailene Woodley after her brief appearance in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was cut, but there's been no official word as of yet. Until then, let's turn our eyes to another piece of intel that's making the nerds talk....

So, now that the filmmakers have it coming down from on high that Sony wants a fourth entry in "The Amazing Spider-man" series -- numbers three and four both got release dates this week -- are they finding their hand forced in stretching the story? Are we going to see the stories stretched out unnecessarily like the finales to "Harry Potter," "Twilight" and "The Hunger Games"? Are they just making it up as they go along?

Well, it looks like the series spawned by Marc Webb will accomplish what Sam Raimi failed to do: get to four films. With a trilogy long expected, the expansion to a fourth film is certainly big news -- especially when the second movie hasn't dropped yet -- and perhaps speaks to Sony's confidence in the series, or their desire not to be left behind in the superhero race.

The Amazing-Spiderman 2 Vulture Colm Feore
It seems the memo going around Hollywood right now is: "If you have rights to a comic book character, put them all in your next movie." Bryan Singer seems obsessed with maxing out 20th Century Fox's catalog of cartoons in "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," while Joss Whedon is already teasing what new faces are going to pop up in "The Avengers 2" (Aaron Taylor-Johnson is already tipped to play Quicksilver). And now it looks like "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will be stacking the cast with more players ripped from the page.

Such is movie marketing these days that it begins even before cameras roll, with studios and filmmakers teasing everything from casting decisions to location photos to fan the flames of excitement early. For two big tentpole sequels coming in 2014, they are following that playbook in the hopes of a big payoff.

We weren't sure whether to go with an "Arrested Development" joke ("I blue myself") or something about "Powder," so you'll have to come up with a wittier opening than we did. But needless to say, this first look at Jamie Foxx in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" is certainly attention grabbing.

You may know him from HBO’s critically acclaimed “In Treatment” or as Cricket in “Lawless,” or as the “monster” in “Chronicle.” Or you may not be able to place him yet, but that will soon change. Actor Dane DeHaan is not one to shy from a challenge and continues to impress filmmakers with that aspiration.
