Yes, lots of new posters to dazzle your eyeballs, so let's jump right in. There are few things surer in life than death and taxes, but at least this week, you can add "On The Road" appearing at the Cannes Film Festival. With the festival set to unveil their slate on Thursday, the new film from Walter Salles is one of surer bets out there. The latest -- and sunniest -- one sheet from the film has arrived, this time focusing on the lovely Kirsten Dunst who plays Carolyn Cassady in the film. She was married to Neal Cassady and was a friend of the Beats including Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. And sorry KStew fans, we're still waiting on a poster for her....

The summer movie season is only a few weeks away. Indeed, in some parts of the world, it's already underway. Due to the Euro 2012 football tournament, the rest of the world are getting several films, including "The Avengers" and "Prometheus" early, and many territories were unlucky enough to get "Battleship" in their multiplexes last week. But things kick off in the U.S. on May 4th with "The Avengers," with roughly one massive tentpole following every week after that.

"Prometheus" is offering up one of the most exciting movies of the year, "The Dark Knight Rises" promises the epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan's game-changing franchise, "The Avengers" assembles every Marvel superhero under one roof... what does "The Amazing Spider-Man" have to offer? A reboot of the comic story Sam Raimi turned into a trilogy that only ended five years ago, Sony and Marc Webb will need to do some convincing, but it seems they are offering a grittier take than the previous, more light-hearted (and emo) effort.

What's the take on the Spider-Man character this time? "He’s a lone wolf… Erratic, angry, rebellious," Andrew Garfield told Total Film recently. "Peter is an outsider. Because that’s what he has to do to protect himself. He was dropped once; he doesn’t want to be dropped again. It’s difficult to get close to him.”

So, Guillermo Del Toro's big secret blockbuster "Pacific Rim" is now shooting in the chameleonic Toronto, but instead of standing in for New York City or Chicago as it usually does, the streets have been completely redone as Tokyo. CBC News has a report which shows off some flashes of sets and behind the scenes action, and yes, they do call it "Still Seas" which we presume is the working title being tossed around town so fanboys don't storm with the city with dodgy cell phone cameras. Watch below.

WonderCon was this weekend, and as you might have noted, all eyes were on "Prometheus," with Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic debuting about nineteen different trailers over the course of the weekend, leading the other big comic book movies that were at the fair to fight for scraps of attention. Among them: "The Amazing Spider-Man," Marc Webb's reboot of Sony's key Marvel superhero franchise.

After the modest success of the low-budgeted "Chronicle," 27-year-old director Josh Trank seems to have been labeled a superhero guy by Hollywood. Even though the superpowered leads of his surprisingly effective found-footage flick never donned a cape, Trank was picked out by Fox (who bankrolled "Chronicle") as the man they wanted to direct their reboot of the "Fantastic Four" franchise. The young helmer's been non-commital about the project, though, and it seems like another film may have grabbed his attention, albeit one still firmly in the comic book world.

Oh, the doorman. Helpful, courteous, reliable and sometimes...kind of a pain in the ass. The first clip from The Mark Of The Spider-Man viral site has been revealed, and it seems to be a pretty good indication of the film's tone and certainly shows that the quippy dialogue Marc Webb handled in "(500) Days Of Summer" isn't too far behind.

Last year, we had four summer superhero films, of which two turned out to be fairly unqualified successes -- the Marvel pictures, "Thor" and "Captain America: The First Avenger" -- one a moderate success -- "X-Men First Class" -- and one that tanked like Lori Petty -- "Green Lantern." As we said sometime last week, this summer is less complicated when it comes to comic book fare, with two of the three films based on graphic novels being solid gold hits regardless of anything, namely "The Dark Knight Rises" and "The Avengers."
