The Avengers
As Marvel enters Phase Two of their cinematic universe, their business universe is also getting a bit of a shake up. No one could have really predicted that Phase One would end with the billion dollar earning "The Avengers," and that really changed the game. Wisely, Robert Downey Jr. had negotiated a deal for a cut of the profits which saw him pocket a cool $50 million. Not bad, right? Well, now imagine you're one of the actors that only got $200,000 for the movie. As you might guess, that is causing some serious friction as Marvel tries to lock everyone in for "The Avengers 2."

Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, an attraction built for the 1964's World's Fair that is still in operation at Florida's Magic Kingdom theme park, is one of the most emblematic for the company – it incorporates an emphasis on family values with a kind of sunny futurism that both Walt Disney the man (who oversaw the original attraction) and Walt Disney the company strove to maintain. Its theme song contains an earworm-y chorus of "It’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day." That great big beautiful tomorrow is coming soon; in 2015, Disney will dominate the cinematic marketplace in a way that no other studio has in the history of the medium (at least since people started paying attention to that kind of thing). But what will that mean for everybody else? How greatly will movies in general be affected by Disney's great big beautiful tomorrow?

So, remember just over a week ago when Joss Whedon not-so-subtly teased that his script for "The Avengers 2" script contained, "two of my favorite characters from the comic book, a brother/sister act"? While he didn't come right out and say it, speculation centered on Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch -- sibling twin superheroes -- that thanks to complicated rights issues, are able to be used by both Marvel and 20th Century Fox. And it looks like the guesswork was spot on.

In case you missed the news earlier this week, Marvel has officially secured the rights to Daredevil after they lapsed at Fox, and with Phase Two now mapped out, could they be ready to unleash a whole new host of characters? We're mostly getting sequels for the next couple of years starting with "Iron Man 3," but the forthcoming "Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." series and "Guardians of the Galaxy" certainly opens up the doors to see what other Marvel-verse characters can come out to play, and Joss Whedon is already teasing some new faces that might be appearing.

The Avengers
Lots of little Marvel bits and bobs have emerged from the nerd Easter basket over the past day or two, so we've rounded them all up in one convenient spot for your edification. This is all pretty minor stuff, but nonetheless, Marvel-heads will probably want to give it a whirl.

You know you’ve made it when they offer you a “Muppets” cameo. From John Cleese to John Krasinski; Tina Fey to Ty Burrell, Kermit’s is a team worth pitching for. And the latest to get the Henson seal of approval is Tom Hiddleston, who eagle-eyed fans at the Muppets Henson blog (via Comic Book Movie) have spotted. The actor has joined the cast of the lazily-titled “The Muppets… Again!” as 'The Great Escapo.' For Hiddleston, it's both a pat on the back and, let’s face it, a chance to get to play something other than Loki in a Marvel movie (which, with this year's "Thor: The Dark World," he'll have done three times in three years).

New 'Iron Man 3' Poster Is A Good Example Of Bad Photoshop, Kevin Feige Shares Joss Whedon's Reaction To The Movie

You might not remember, or perhaps you deleted it from your memory, but circa Marvel's campaign for "Iron Man 2," they dropped a hilariously terrible international poster that basically was a mashup of all the things in the movie. Well, three years on, they haven't deviated from the playbook as a new one-sheet has arrived, and once again, a lowly intern (probably) has cut and pasted a bunch of stuff together.

After Joss Whedon's response that rumors about a "Hulk" standalone movie were "nonsense," and other nerd sites declared chatter that a Marvel effort based on Planet Hulk was 1000% inaccurate, Mark Ruffalo has used the almighty power of Twitter to finally weigh in on Hulk-gate. Yeah, don't hold your breath for a green monster smashing stuff up on screen anytime soon.

Of the many things that contributed to the billion-dollar success of Marvel's "The Avengers" last year, one of the most obvious was the reboot of The Hulk. Now inhabited by Mark Ruffalo, the character was more tortured than ever before (if that was even possible), but also more funny, instantly charming fans and newcomers alike around the world with little more than the words: "Hulk smash." And while a standalone movie seemed like a no-brainer, last spring fans were told that the earliest they would see that happen is 2015.Additionally, while a TV series for the character was teased at the time as well, Guillermo Del Toro recently suggested those plans are on hold for now. So what gives? Well, if these rumors are close to correct, The Hulk will be a major player in Phase Two and Phase Three of Marvel's rollout.

Between the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour and the 18th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, there's been a lot of news trickling in about related Joss Whedon projects like "The Avengers 2," ABC's would-be "S.H.I.E.L.D." TV show, and more. Perhaps most interesting is Whedon recently admitting that he would have loved to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII" and that he's bummed there's no way his busy schedule would allow it.
