Steven Soderbergh has long made a habit of keeping a wide-ranging roster of regular collaborators to turn to, depending on the needs of whatever project he's working on. And with the cameras now rolling on his next effort "The Bitter Pill" he's taking a step away from the electronic-driven scores by Cliff Martinez and David Holmes of his last two films "Contagion" and "Haywire."

When we spoke to Steven Soderbergh back in January, he indicated that he was aiming for a March 2013 release for his upcoming "The Bitter Pill" and it looks like at the very least, he got the first frame date he was looking for.

Steven Soderbergh's "The Bitter Pill" is now rolling in front of cameras and it looks like the girl with the dragon tattoo is now the girl with a new haircut (or wig). Rooney Mara has been snapped walking around the New York City set with some new brunette-ish locks, and combined with a frumpy trench coat, it's a far cry from her previous Hot Topic look.

If there is one actress we've been hoping to see more of on the big screen it's Vinessa Shaw. An underrated talent, she shined in James Gray's "Two Lovers" and nabbed our attention in "3:10 To Yuma," but her appearances in movies have been too few and far between. She popped up in "Big Miracle" last month, and now she's landed a new gig much more worth her time and talent.

Anyone who's heard him at a Q&A, been present for one of his lectures, or even listened to a commentary knows one thing about Steven Soderbergh; he's a great conversationalist. Some filmmakers can barely talk about their own work, but a discussion with Soderbergh won't just involve him talking candidly about his own process and films, but also anything that happens to come up.

For the last couple of years, Steven Soderbergh, one of the most acclaimed filmmakers of the last few decades, started to talk about retirement. Initially dismissed as a joke, the ambiguity played up by the director, it's become increasingly clear that Soderbergh is serious about the proposition.

Yes, everyone, Steven Soderbegh is still retiring/taking a hiatus from moviemaking. While the thriller "The Bitter Pill" is indeed a new film on the way from the director, he's only making it because he loves the Scott Z. Burns script, but secondly, it fits into some free space he has available. "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." was originally being lined up to shoot next spring, but when he walked from the project, he was looking at other potential scripts with the following criteria: only if they could fill that time gap next spring and, only if a studio was going to distribute it (taking it the indie route and waiting to find a home would add an even longer delay to his desire to do other things).

Whether he's retiring, or taking a hiatus, or whatever, Steven Soderbergh's made it clear in recent months that after his HBO Liberace biopic "Behind the Candelabra," with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, we're not going to see a film from him for a while. But he's also seemingly keen to fit in as many films as he can into that timeframe, having added male stripper drama "Magic Mike" to his schedule earlier in the year.
