Let's get away from the heat wave for a moment and rewind the clock back to the cooler temperatures of February. Back then, writer/director Tony Gilroy was beginning to look at actors for the lead role of "The Bourne Legacy" and basically every young, eligible male was in contention with Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer, Benjamin Walker, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch and Kellan Lutz all in the mix. Well, as you know, the part eventually landed with Jeremy Renner but in a rare stroke of Hollywood good fortune, one of those contenders has been asked back.

Damn, this is major fine casting. Edward Norton is in negotiations to play the villain in Tony Gilroy's "The Bourne Legacy" which is already set to star "The Hurt Locker" lead Jeremy Renner. Currently there are no further details on Norton's role, how it will play into Gilroy's continuation of the 'Bourne' saga, but we know that Matt Damon won't be returning and by all accounts this is a side-story that exists within the realm of the greater 'Bourne' universe.

Harrison Ford Says What We're All Thinking, Calls LaBeouf A "Fucking Idiot"It appears that Shia LaBeouf has a mouth that can't be stopped. Just a few weeks after the actor dumped on his former co-star Megan Fox, claiming her unforgivable "Spice Girl strength" and her inability to handle Michael Bay's meticulous directions on where to point her ass got her fired from this weekend's "Transformers: Dark of the Moon." Now, a new Details magazine feature on the actor finds him using the opportunity to throw Fox under the bus yet again, albeit this time in a wholly different way.

For an actress who has largely steered clear of the tentpole world, it looks like Rachel Weisz is ready to trade in status as a top tier actress for some mad bank.

Did The Actor Think He Had 'The Bourne Legacy' Role Sewn Up? Or Is He Hinting At Something Else?Taylor Kitsch doesn’t seem to be having any problems shaking his "Friday Night Lights" character Tim Riggins despite playing the high school footballer for five seasons. In fact, with looming tentpole films like "Battleship" and "John Carter of Mars" on the distant horizon, he's practically left that character and show in the dust. His latest film, "The Bang Bang Club," which premiered last night at the Tribeca Film Festival, finds Kitsch starring alongside Ryan Phillippe and Malin Akerman as a photojournalist dedicated to covering the atrocities that occurred during the end of apartheid in South Africa. Playing the affected and drug-addicted real-life Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer certainly seemed like a huge departure from lovable bad boy Tim Riggins, but to Kitsch, the role just seems to be another journey of character discovery.

So much for Vulture's report on Joel Edgerton, published earlier today huh? Does Jeremy Renner have the lead role in Tony Gilroy's "The Bourne Legacy" all sown up? All signs point to yes. Last week it was rumored that Universal wanted the breakout "Hurt Locker" star for the lead, despite all the testing they had been doing of up-and-coming actors, and that much has been confirmed. There seems to be two reports that are saying much of the same, but not quite.

Studio Eyes James McAvoy Or Shia LaBeouf But May Want Aussie Actor For 'Snow White & The Huntsman'Aussie actor Joel Edgerton is on the cusp of making a major mark in Hollywood. The 36-year-old actor has never been lacking for work. Acclaimed turns in "The Square" and "Animal Kingdom" put him firmly on the Hollywood radar and 2011 is already shaping up to be a helluva year as he's already set for the Tom Hardy MMA flick "Warrior" and the big budget "The Thing" prequel. He's also currently filming the indie flick "The Odd Life of Timothy Green." All that's left for the actor to solidify his place among the top leading men is a franchise, and it looks like he's got a couple to choose from.

There's no doubt that the Universal Bourne series spinoff "The Bourne Legacy" has been one of the biggest casting tickets in town. Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch, Kellan Lutz, Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer and Benjamin Walker have all been tossed around as potential actors to take on the next chapter in the franchise, but it appears one name has risen to the top that hasn't been mentioned yet.

With "The Adjustment Bureau" hitting theaters next week, we sat down to talk to first-time director (and writer) George Nolfi just very recently. Nolfi, who wrote "The Sentinel" and the rather gonzo, "Ocean's Twelve," endeared himself to Universal executives by working on the script for the "Bourne Ultimatum" movie, but was also contracted to write a fourth film featuring Matt Damon's return as Jason Bourne, only for director Paul Greengrass to bail on the project entirely and the studio to eventually opt for "The Bourne Legacy" as the next adventure in that cinematic universe.
