Trailers for the networks' fall shows are upon us (more on that later today), and here's a daring direction for a new show: a remake of a Scandinavian crime drama! No but really, FX's “The Bridge,” a trailer for which just arrived on Indiewire, looks interesting: a police procedural featuring the police of two different countries working on the same case, after a body turns up at a Texan border crossing between the US and Mexico.

If can you weren't aware, Danish television is currently having a bit of a moment. Last month, New Yorker did a fascinating profile on the country's television industry and the popularity of their shows at home and more importantly abroad, with the politically minded "Borgen," "The Killing" (duh) and "The Bridge" all gaining fervent fans. And with "The Killing" already been taken down the remake route, next is the "The Bridge" (there is a separate UK remake in the works too) being brought to life by "Miss Bala" helmer Gerardo Naranjo. And now we have a first look at what he's been up to.

While foreign filmmakers dipping their toes into Hollywood waters can have mixed results, it looks like "Miss Bala" helmer Gerardo Naranjo is off to a great start with his brewing FX series "The Bridge." He's already nabbed Diane Kruger to take on the female lead role, and now he's got her male co-star, and it's an actor we're always keen to see more of.

Certainly, Hollywood sat up and took notice of Gerardo Naranjo when he dropped into Cannes in 2011 with the gritty thriller "Miss Bala," and promptly blew some minds. Since then, he's lined up a number of projects, including the romantic drama "The Mountain Between Us" with Michael Fassbender and the political thriller "A Man Must Die." But it looks like before he gets to either of those, he's going to take a quick detour into TV first, and work with another international star in the process.
