2011 seemed to be a banner year for electro-driven scores, with folks like Trent Reznor ("The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"), Cliff Martinez ("Drive" and "Contagion"), Basement Jaxx ("Attack The Block") and Mr. Oizo ("Rubber") all delivering solid work. But perhaps the most memorable of them all was The Chemical Brothers score for Joe Wright's assassin tale "Hanna." Well, the good news is the duo are back to deliver some serious beats for another promising project.

Never exactly the finest hour of the Oscars, the Best Original Song category of the Academy Awards this year has been something of a fiasco. First it was nominations with only two tracks -- "Man or Muppet" from "The Muppets" and "Real In Rio" from the animated film "Rio" -- making the cut. Then, at the start of this week, Deadline broke the news that neither song would be performed as part of the Oscar telecast, seemingly in the ever-vain hope of keeping the running time of the ceremony under three hours, despite protestations from those behind the two films, and many others.

As Promised, Keira Knightley, Jude Law & Aaron Johnson To StarWell, Joe Wright and Focus Features have locked down the cast for their lavish adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's classic novel "Anna Karenina," and it seems like a full house of talent – in addition to the already confirmed Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson, Matthew Mcfadyen ("Pride & Prejudice") and Olivia Williams, the film has added Domhnall Gleeson ("Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"), Alicia Vikander ("The Seventh Son"), Emily Watson, and Ruth Wilson (BBC series "Luther").

Soundtrack Hits Early; March 15th Via iTunesIt seems we're at the the tipping point of a full-blown trend of beat-makers taking on the soundtracks for films, and not only that, with Trent Reznor taking home an Oscar last weekend it's gained legitimacy. Daft Punk already turned heads with their work on "Tron: Legacy" and Basement Jaxx will have their turn later this summer with "Attack the Block," but just around the corner is "Hanna" and the The Chemical Brothers will be providing the pulsating score.
