While James McTeigue for a moment seemed like the next great blockbuster hopeful following "V For Vendetta," the diminishing returns of "Ninja Assassin" and "The Raven" have found him directing his leanest movie yet. Milla Jovovich, Pierce Brosnan, Emma Thompson and Angela Bassett will star in "Survivor," a thriller that'll shoot in January.

Yesterday we said that Rachel McAdams doesn't always get the kinds of projects that match her skills, and the same could apply to Michelle Monaghan. The actress, who was excellent in "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" and "Gone Baby Gone," hasn't really stood out in much since, fading to the background or being wasted in fare like "Made Of Honor," "Eagle Eye" and "The Heartbreak Kid." But she does seem like to genre-y action pieces (such as "Source Code") as she's lined up another one.

Amid lots of “Fast & Furious 6” casting and speculation – Luke Evans? Really? – it’s nice to be able to report on some definitive (and high-profile) casting on a couple of upcoming movies. Pierce Brosnan and Elijah Wood have each lined up a new project, and we can tell you a little bit about those roles.

There was a moment, near the start of the '00s, when Owen Wilson was more often seen running away from an explosion than heading up dog-oriented family flicks and romantic comedies, using that familiar drawl to mask a film's flaws. The end results were never that mind-blowing (see: “Shanghai Knights,” “Behind Enemy Lines”), but there was a unique, unassuming presence to his action roles that remained interesting, and now it seems Wilson is curious to dive back into genre waters once again.

Horror directors John and Drew Dowdle are no strangers to controversy. They first came to the attention of the genre crowd back in 2007 with "The Poughkeepsie Tapes," a found-footage serial killer picture that went down so badly with a crowd of horror geeks at a now-legendary screening during Ain't It Cool's Butt-Numb-A-Thon Festival, that it's barely seen the light of day since.
