Jake Gyllenhaal, Enemy
It's something of a minor crime that people don't know the name Jean-Marc Vallée. But that may be due to the stealthy nature of his career that has seen him hunker down and knock out film after film that were acclaimed, and yet somehow, the spotlight always managed to miss shining on him.

Lupita Nyong'o, Oscars
For anyone watching the Oscars at home last night, they may have noticed something a different about the speeches this year....no one really got played off. It looks like the producers took it easy on the winners in 2014, rarely breaking out the orchestra to hustle people off the stage, leading to some longer than usual acceptance speeches. And in case you were in the bathroom or doing a snack refill, we've got all the major ones below.

2014 Oscar Winners
...And that's it on another year. As always, the Oscars were both exciting, (mostly) sleep inducing, surprising and left us with lots to talk about. But it's late, we're tired and filled with nacho cheese, so we're going to be a bit brief for now.

2014 Oscar Selfie
What's up party people, here is your official Playlist Oscars 2014 live-blog, steered with reckless, and rosé-soaked abandon by me, Katie Walsh. I'm no awards pundit, or expert, but I am an enthusiast for fashions, celebrities, and live television mishaps, which is what these awards shows do best, as well as hand out shiny gold doorstoppers to the best and brightest of Hollywood. It's also a wonderful way to celebrate the end of what has seemed like an incredibly long and convoluted Oscar season (which really, is most of the year now), and tonight will no doubt be a great catharsis of all our collective anxieties, disagreements and heated opinions.

True Detective
This weekend, the McConnaisance, as it has come to be known, could be capped off with an Oscar win for the actor for his terrific turn in "Dallas Buyer's Club." But for anyone who has been watching the actor over the past couple years, they've known he's been turning out one great performance after another in a series of movies. But with the golden statue looming on the horizon for Matthew McConaughey, there is probably no better time than to sit down and take stock with the actor.

Oscars: Could A Movie Other Than 'Gravity,' '12 Years A Slave' Or 'American Hustle' Win Best Picture?
The awards season is in a bit of a lull, or an armistice if you will. With a few weeks passing since the most recent precursor awards, those up for the Oscars have been able to sit back and enjoy their status, most notably at this week's nominees luncheon. But the Cold War is about to end: voting for the Oscar winners gets underway on Friday, with the BAFTAs following on Sunday, and after that, it's going to be a fairly frantic couple of weeks ahead of the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday March 2nd.

10 Things We Learned From The 2014 Golden Globes
If you're a salesperson of aspirin, raw eggs or hair-of-the-dog booze in Hollywood, today is a good day for you: it's the morning after the Golden Globes, otherwise known as the single most hungover day in the Hollywood calendar. The night that truly kicks off the two-month-long season of awards ceremonies, all leading up to the Oscars at the start of March, its reputation is as one that not many take seriously, but everyone treats as a bit of a party, with some gloriously decadent shenanigans taking place over the years.

David O. Russell, American Hustle, Playlist exclusive
Are awards season voters no longer entranced by the magic of the Coen Brothers? Even with "Inside Llewyn Davis" earning no shortage of acclaim, that has not translated into very much love from awards types, with the film getting completely shut out of the Producers Guild Award nominations yesterday. And today, the Writer's Guild have also shunned the sibling duo.
