It's only been 24 hours since our last bit of info on "The Dark Knight Rises" so don't worry, the movie hasn't been canceled or push back. Phew. Kidding aside, the clock is winding down on the film with just over a month to go before we see Christopher Nolan's epic conclusion to the series -- and at 2 hours and 45 minutes long, he's not kidding.

We're now getting into the final stretch before "The Dark Knight Rises," probably the most anticipated film of a year that's had plenty of hotly anticipated pictures. After a main trailer a month or so back, we got another sneak peek of footage at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, as well as a steady drip of posters and images that have managed to tease without giving away the whole shop.

"The Avengers" is now one of the biggest movies of all time, and "Prometheus" is already killing it overseas and drops into theaters stateside next weekend, which leaves "The Dark Knight Rises" as the last big, hugely anticipated blockbuster of the summer season. And tonight during the MTV Movie Awards, Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale appeared in person to present new footage from the film exclusively to close off the show. And yes, this thing looks fucking epic.

It's interesting how the narrative changes. After the monumental success of "The Dark Knight," Christopher Nolan clearly needed a break and a palette cleanser that became "Inception," as per his blockbuster rule (the director also shot "The Prestige" in between the first two Batman films). At the time, when asked about a third Batman film, Nolan said he and David S. Goyer would take a break and would only make a third picture if and when they came across a good story to tell. But recent interviews between Goyer, Nolan and co-screenwriter Jonah Nolan suggest that this trio always knew how Bruce Wayne's story would end.

It may be foggy now, but if memory serves us right, people reacted pretty kindly to helmer Christopher Nolan’s introduction to his own Batman world with 2005’s “Batman Begins.” While director Tim Burton delivered the comic book goods in 1989’s “Batman” and 1992’s marvelously underrated “Batman Returns” – with Joel Schumacher ratcheting up the comic book excess to an unnecessary degree with “Batman Forever” and “Batman & Robin” – Nolan introduced a darker tint to the superhero than we'd had before, and would later lead “The Dark Knight” to become a box office sensation in 2008.

Fear not – once the conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy hits theaters this summer, the director’s name will still be attached to another comic book property, that of Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot, “Man of Steel.” After all, the film was Nolan’s baby at first, originating with him and writer David S. Goyer through initial drafts, but in a recent interview with Empire Magazine (via ComicBookMovie), Nolan clarified exactly how much involvement he will have in the finished production.

Sick of "The Dark Knight Rises" and its relatively secret campaign? At least compared to say, Fox's "Prometheus," which seemingly has revealed every secret it has? (Probably not, but it sure feels that way). Well, you shouldn't be. Trust In Nolan (someone should make a T-shirt of that and give me some props).
