Despite endless set photos and grainy YouTube videos posted by desperate fans, we still know virtually nothing significant about "The Dark Knight Rises," likely to be 2012's biggest film, and the third in Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. But this shouldn't be a major surprise to anyone. After all, Nolan's perfected the art of secrecy in the internet age, more than anyone bar J.J. Abrams, so much so that even the barest of plot details for "Inception" were kept under wraps until only weeks before release.

Sorry 99%, Christopher Nolan Won't Be Shooting In Zuccotti ParkSo "The Dark Knight Rises" production hit New York City this week and as usual, everyone with a camera is taking pictures of whatever they can, and while we haven't kept up with the minutia of set photos this seems to be something fresh. Or not. But anyway, when Joseph Gordon-Levitt was first cast in the film it was said that he was playing a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty by Commissioner Gordon. Many assumed this was a ruse and that he was secretly playing someone much more important, but as these pics bear out...well, he's a beat cop. And it looks like he's assigned to protecting Bruce Wayne. MAYBE HE'LL BECOME ROBIN! Or maybe he's secretly the Joker's brother. Or maybe he's just a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty by Commissioner Gordon. We'll find out eventually.

Not In Those Tiny, Digital IMAX TheatersLast week word spread like wildfire around the interwebs that a lengthy, six-minute prologue from “The Dark Knight Rises” would be unspooled in front of screenings for “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” While the news seemed legit, we had our doubts and wondered why Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. were putting a massive teaser for easily the biggest film of next summer in front of a rival studio's film. But it turns out there is a big caveat for those who want to see it which may mean buying your tickets well in advance and scouring to find out which theater in particular near you will even be capable of showing it.

Of all the nerdy bits and bobs surrounding "The Dark Knight Rises" over the past weeks and months, this is actually pretty exciting, though at this point, not officially confirmed. That said, according to sources at /Film, ticket holders for "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" will be in for a treat in December, as a six-minute preview/prologue/sequence/something from "The Dark Knight Rises" will apparently unspool before the movie starts. If it sounds too good to be true, it's not without precedent.

Michael Moore & 'The Dark Knight Rises' Inspired By The Occupy Wall Street Protests

Despite (some of) the mainstream media coverage of the Occupy Wall Street protests painting the participants as a bunch of unemployed, left wing socialists who hate America, for anyone who has actually been down to Zuccotti Park (or to the various places where demonstrations have been taking place worldwide), they know that it's a remarkably wide ranging group of people. From teenagers to the elderly, with parents bringing their young children to see free speech in action, it's pretty inspiring stuff to witness first hand and it seems Hollywood is taking notice, albeit in some completely different ways.

Sometimes when one door closes, another one opens. You might recall that back this spring "Homeland" star Diego Klattenhoff was reported to be taking a role in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises." As these things sometimes go, the scheduling couldn't be worked out and he didn't wind up doing the film, but fall is here and the actor has bounced back with a part in another mega movie.

As is usually the case with Christopher Nolan productions (let's not forget, almost nothing was known about "Inception" until a week or two before release), a deep veil of secrecy hangs over the production of "The Dark Knight Rises" -- we know who most of the actors are playing, but little beyond that, and even then it's generally thought that both Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's characters have more to them than the official descriptions. Unfortunately for Nolan, he's been shooting a huge battle scene in public in Pittsburgh this week, and spoilery set photos have been all over the Bat-fan-sites in recent days.

Just Like Audiences Worldwide, WB Reportedly Not Happy With Martin Campbell's DirectionThere is nothing about a prospective "Green Lantern 2" that doesn't reek of flop sweat. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. are scuffling in their race against Marvel/themselves to develop a new chain of franchises based on comic book characters, and the performance of "GL" this summer has certainly hurt momentum. With "The Dark Knight Rises" pegged for next summer and "The Man Of Steel" after that, they're going to want to diversify, lest the studio be forced to greenlight a bunch of actual real movies with interesting original characters not made to sell Happy Meals. Ye gods.
