'Rambo 5' Is Apparently Happening, Will Be Either Like 'Unforgiven' Or A "Passing Of The Torch"

Even though David Morrell was the original author of "First Blood," star Sylvester Stallone has co-opted the popular character of John Rambo to the point where 2008's "Rambo," co-written and directed by Stallone, was near-autobiographical. Retiring the violent soldier hero made sense, as Stallone is now 65 years old. But legally speaking, the onscreen John Rambo doesn't belong to Morrell or Stallone, but rather Lionsgate, who released the last 'Rambo' film to a $113 million worldwide gross. In other words, a new 'Rambo' movie will happen with or without Stallone.

Update: Oops, these are from "Universal Solider 4." Sorry about that. While "The Expendables 2" will be boasting a PG-13 rating to ensure it can maximize the box office receipts, by minimizing the carnage, the filmmakers are still trying to get fans excited regardless. So they've hit Facebook (via Latino Review) and dropped a new images of the cast -- well, images of them posing -- which prove one one thing: JCVD looks even more badass with no hair.

"The Expendables 2" is coming, and this time....bring the kids! Yesterday, word started being kicked around that the upcoming beefcake sequel was possibly going to be given a safe and friendly PG-13 rating due to the whims of the sensitive Chuck Norris, who apparently doesn't like cussing. Could it be true? Well, the answer is yes.

Rounding up a stable of old school action stars, "The Expendables" was touted as a macho return to old school action moviemaking, and came stamped with an R-rating, delivering all the explosions and cussing (though strangely, none of the gratuitous nudity) of classic shoot 'em ups. And so, for the "The Expendables 2," Sylvester Stallone raised the stakes. He rounded up even more faces (including Jean-Claude Van Damme) some young talent (Liam Hemsworth) and snagged Simon West, director of "Con Air" fame, to shoot the thing. But will the demands of Chuck Norris actually find the testosterone-filled movie holding itself back?

Listen. Carefully. On the wind. Can you hear something? A creak of bone. A distant cough. Someone complaining that they haven't taken their pills, asking if you remembered to record "NCIS," and saying how their grandkids are going to show them how to use the Google. That's right, Sylvester Stallone and his buddies are rolling back into town.

If "The Expendables" meant anything (and, aside from some serviceable action sequences, it didn't really), it was a chance to see a group of action icons interacting with each other, with several scenes imbued with the baggage brought from the filmographies of all those involved. Come for the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis, stay for the Gary Daniels! Sylvester Stallone and company have listened to the complaints, bringing back the entire cast for "The Expendables 2" and giving some of them more to do than to just sit around and chat.

Nicolas Cage Won't Be In It & Probably Not John Travolta EitherEven though the meat-head heavy "The Expendables 2" is already in front of cameras, with the Ben Gay-sponsored cast ripping it up for next summer's blockbuster, rumors have still been floating about possible appearances in the film. One rumor picking up heat in recent weeks was the possibility of Nicolas Cage and John Travolta joining the cast. Well, we heard from Cage's reps who told us he was not going to be in the film, and reportedly the folks at Think McFly Think have learned that Travolta is out too. Bummer. But they're not the only ones who have been on Sly Stallone's lengthy wishlist.
