It looks like the old dudes of "The Expendables" are going to get an energetic boost of estrogen to add to their ranks when they grease up their joints for yet another bland action outing. And it's someone who has more than her fair share of experience kicking ass.

“The Expendables” franchise seems like both a blessing and a bit of a curse for Sylvester Stallone and his team of aging action stars. While the franchise itself has proven to be a hit, it hasn’t exactly been a career re-launcher for guys like Stallone and Schwarzengger whose films “Bullet to the Head” and “The Last Stand” proved to be unsuccessful in the box office this year. Still, at least they all have a franchise to fall back on and it’s fun to see what kind of a cast Stallone can conjure up for the next “Expendables” film. Speaking of which, Stallone has recently taken to Twitter to tease us all about who might show up for “Expendables 3.”

Though they’re distributed through Lionsgate, "The Expendables” films have been produced through Millennium Films, the closest modern equivalent to The Cannon Group. In an unintentional nod to that company’s B-movie history, Sylvester Stallone has once again decided to tap someone else to direct the third “The Expendables” film. And while he went with a veteran choice last time out in Simon West, this time he's going with someone you probably never heard of.

Discuss: Do The Flops 'The Last Stand' & 'Bullet To The Head' Spell The End For Schwarzenegger & Stallone?

The listings for the multilpex at the moment kind of feels like a timewarp into the early 1990s. A couple weeks ago, Arnold Schwarzenegger made his return to starring roles after a decade spent bankrupting California as the state's governor, in "The Last Stand." On Friday, Sylvester Stallone starred in "Bullet to the Head," a throwback actioner directed by the long-absent Walter Hill. And there's plenty more where they came from. Arnie & Sly will reteam in September for "The Tomb," while the latter returns two months later opposite Robert De Niro in "Grudge Match." And in 2014, the Governator will lead David Ayer's "Ten," alongside Sam Worthington.

While the buzz on "The Expendables 2" was fairly muted and the domestic gross lagged behind that of the first film, the blockbuster action sequel still netted a cool $300 million worldwide. Given that making these movies doesn't break the bank, it's not a surprise to learn that a third iteration is in the works. While no director is attached, and the script has yet to be written, Dolph Lundgren confirms he'll return for the musclebound action franchise's third outing, which could even begin shooting this year.

Jackie Chan Says He'll Be In 'The Expendables 3,' But Only If It's A Major Role

“For the last 10 years I have been making some other different movies. I want to be an Asian Robert De Niro. I don’t just want to be an action star, I want to be a true actor. I want to get rid of my image,” Jackie Chan said back in May. And while it's admirable that the actor wants to change up his persona, he likely also knows what side his bread is buttered on. So what does the actor, who is approaching sixty years of age, do? Might as well roll with the other old folks in the action hay one more time.

Update: Oops, turns out that Stallone/Cage casting confirmation has been debunked by Deadline. Although produce Avi Lerner himself talked up Cage this summer. So, we'll see.

Following a painful divorce from his wife, a sentence of jail time handed down to his son, and the recently-released sex tape, it's grown increasingly harder for a YouTube search of Hulk Hogan to remind people of his glory days as a professional wrestler. His fall from grace has continued firmly in the public eye though, and this week Hogan took to Howard Stern's radio show to drop two film-related tidbits, even as his involvement in both remains debatable.

Sorry Sly, Clint Eastwood Says He's "Probably Not" Going To Do 'Expendables 3'

While he isn't berating inanimate objects, Clint Eastwood makes movies, and this Friday he'll take his cantankerous self to the baseball diamond in "Trouble With The Curve" (review here). It's another rare acting outing for the man who has mostly spent the last little while behind the camera, but that doesn't mean he still isn't in demand. It was just last month that producer Avi Lerner boasted that he had Nic Cage on board for "The Expendables 3" with plans to approach some new names like Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford and yes, Eastwood. Well, there's one phone call that Lerner can probably take off his list.

Even though "The Expendables 2" opened at the top of the box office this past weekend to smaller numbers than its predecessor, it seems everyone already has their eye on a third installment. Producer Avi Lerner has boasted he's already inked Nicolas Cage for "The Expendables 3," and says he will be approaching guys like Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford and Wesley Snipes. But there is one Expendable who says he won't be coming back to kick more aging ass: Chuck Norris.
