John Krasinski seemed poised to break out back when “The Office” was in its heyday. He’s starred in movies directed by George Clooney, Sam Mendes, and Gus Van Sant; he even tried his hand at directing back in 2009 with “Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.” Unfortunately, none of these movies managed to gain much of an audience. Van Sant’s “Promised Land,” which Krasinski co-wrote with Matt Damon, was completely ignored during awards season two years ago.

The Family Fang Jason Bateman David Lindsay-Abaire Nicole Kidman
Back at TIFF in September, Jason Bateman arrived to show off his directorial debut, "Bad Words." The foul-mouthed, acidic comedy wasn't one we particularly cared for, but as we noted in our review, it showed that Bateman could "could put together 90 minutes of a story tightly and cohesively." And it seems that for Nicole Kidman, that's good enough.

2010 certainly wasn’t a lackluster year for film, perhaps that’s why “Shortbus” helmer John Cameron Mitchell’s emotionally gripping “Rabbit Hole” was seemingly swept aside. Telling the story of a grieving couple coming to terms after their young son dies in a horrific accident, it was a heartbreaking tale that we liked quite a bit, and so we were pleased to hear last February that Kidman would be teaming up again with “Rabbit Hole” producers for the familial comedy-drama “The Family Fang.” Now it looks as if producers are hoping to add a little more of what made their previous film work so well, in the form of a script by “Rabbit Hole” playwright and screenwriter David Lindsay-Abaire.
