While she has definitely earned her stripes as the frontwoman for the acclaimed rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Karen O has also been making some impressive steps in the movie soundtrack world. She memorably contributed a brace of music to Spike Jonze's excellent "Where The Wild Things Are," and last year howled on the cover version of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" for David Fincher's "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." But now she's moving back toward something for kids, contributing "Strange Love," a brand new song, to Tim Burton's ghoulish "Frankenweenie." And she's not the only interesting choice on the soundtrack.

Musician Erykah Badu is certainly no stranger to controversy, and the psychedelic rock quartert The Flaming Lips are certainly no strangers to being, well, strange. So perhaps it’s not surprising that the mixture of the two would make for an entirely unwholesome blend of the odd and gratuitous.

Remember "Christmas On Mars"? No? That film, a very low-budget sci-fi tale, took about seven years to complete with The Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne calling in favors to a plethora of people including Steve Burns, Modest Mouse leader Isaac Brock, Adam Goldberg, Fred Armisen and Elijah Wood. And when it did finally come out, no one really saw it (and it wasn't that great). But you gotta hand it to Coyne, the man doesn't do anything half-assed (if you've seen their live shows, you know exactly what we mean) and he's got another project in the works.
