TIFF 2014 Imitation Game The Drop Wild Foxcatcher
So, the question was whether or not the Toronto International Film Festival's new rules about premieres—telling distributors that any movie playing the festival in the first four days couldn't screen anywhere else (sorry Telluride)—would hurt their ability to curate an attractive lineup. Well, put those fears aside as the fest has unveiled a pretty solid first wave of titles. So what's coming? Where do we start?

The Good Lie
With one Oscar under her belt for "Walk The Line," it seems like this year, Reese Witherspoon is really gunning for another statue for her mantle. By the beginning of October, we'll have a much better sense of how the season will be looking (although some of these films have started screening already—we've seen a couple, though are embargoed for the moment).

South Korean filmmakers Kim Ji-woon and Park Chan-wook are some of the latest foreign filmmakers that have moved into English-language filmmaking – to mixed results – and now Canadian “Monsieur Lazhar” helmer Philippe Falardeau is set to join them with a major star of his own. Variety is reporting that Reese Witherspoon is circling the lead of “The Good Lie” with Falardeau attached to direct.
