With "The Great Gatsby" now about five months away from hitting theaters, in marketing terms, it's not a long time, and it looks like Warner Bros. is getting the campaign started on the literary adaptation they hope will be a big hit. Earlier today we got character posters for Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton) and Myrtle Wilson (Isla Fisher), and now a couple more people from F. Scott Fitzgerald's book are getting the one-sheet treatment.

We bet when you were sitting in English class pondering over F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," you never imagined that one day it would be a 3D Hollywood blockbuster. But Baz Luhrmann is taking the American classic off the bookshelf and onto the big screen in a way that only he knows how, and as these new character posters reveal, no expense has been spared in the costume department.

Had things gone the way they were supposed to, Leonardo DiCaprio would be pulling double duty this December, starring not only in Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," but also in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby." But alas, additional shooting pushed the movie back from a previously scheduled Christmas Day release to a date next spring. So until then, we'll just have to look at gorgeous people being gorgeous.

Earlier today we sat down with Jason Clarke, the Australian actor who plays a tough-as-nails CIA interrogator in Kathryn Bigelow's blindingly brilliant "Zero Dark Thirty." Clarke also stars in Baz Lurhmann's ambitious 3D version of "The Great Gatsby," which was originally slated to hit theaters this month but was pushed back to next summer, amidst a flurry of wild speculation. We had to ask him how the film is coming and if there was any truth to the rumors of the film being in post-production trouble.

Eyebrows were raised when "The Great Gatsby" was removed from its late-December release, rescheduled for next spring. The Baz Luhrmann picture was just one of many Warner Bros. films possibly angling for Oscar nominations, but with a crowded slate, and the difficulty in securing a large percentage of 3D screens, it seemed doubtful that the F. Scott Fitzgerald would be a Christmas gift to viewers. But could it be that, with a new May 10, 2013 date, Luhrmann's film is using that time to spruce up the soundtrack?

As already glimpsed in his Kanye-trotting premiere trailer for “The Great Gatsby,” Baz Luhrmann has confirmed his over-exuberant style will remain consistent for his fifth film. Unfortunately, as the Australian filmmaker's filmography has repeatedly shown, a pretty studio penny is also required to depict all that opulence on-screen, and now with Luhrmann facing a six-month delay, he's looking further than Warner Bros. to add some extra Jazz-age panache to the project.

The biggest news Oscar-wise of the past week has involved a film that, as it turns out, won't play into the season at all, Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby," which Warner Bros announced on Monday was being delayed, with the studio shifting the movie from its Christmas Day release to summer 2013. A spokesman for the studio said: "Based on what we’ve seen, Baz Luhrmann’s incredible work is all we anticipated and so much more. It truly brings Fitzgerald’s American classic to life in a completely immersive, visually stunning and exciting way. We think moviegoers of all ages are going to embrace it, and it makes sense to ensure this unique film reaches the largest audience possible.”

Take this one right out of the Oscar race folks. While showing off a razzle dazzle trailer earlier this year that matched up Jay-Z beats with Jazz Age glamour, Warner Bros. have decided to shift Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" from a Christmas Day relaese to an unspecified date next summer.
