After the post-"Old School" stumbles ("School For Scoundrels" being the most egregious), it was nice to see Todd Phillips land back on his feet in a big way with "The Hangover" and to a lesser degree, the caustic but still enjoyable "Due Date." "The Hangover" of course was more than just a comeback success, the film went supernova and became the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time and turned Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper into big stars that now lead their own movies and TV shows. Phillips himself signed a mint-like deal with Warner Bros. and everyone made out pretty damn well from the Vegas misadventure that took everyone by surprise.

While the youngsters of "Project X" filled out Warner Bros. dudes-getting-drunk-and-into-trouble niche this year to the tune of $94 million worldwide (not bad for a low budget movie with no big names attached to it), in 2013 The Wolfpack will be back to show 'em how it's done in "The Hangover Part III." And while chatter has been pretty steady ever since "The Hangover Part II" about what the final entry of the series will involve, it now seems like a clearer picture is emerging of what the movie will entail.

In terms of agreed-upon proofs, it was traditionally known that the Earth is round, Samuel L. Jackson will never age, and a new “The Hangover” film will always be in development. Those first two remain true, but director Todd Phillips has just confirmed that the series' third installment will be the last.

The Playlist recently caught up with Ed Helms while the actor was out promoting his dramedy “Jeff Who Lives at Home” for the Duplass Brothers. In the film, Helms plays Pat, who is going through a mid-life crisis (Helms) and believes his wife (Judy Greer) is having an affair. He teams up with his brother Jeff (Jason Segel) to spy on his wife, a journey unfolds with all sorts of unintended consequences. It's another fine comic outing from Helms, and we’ll have more from the actor discussing the Duplass project later this week. For now, we hit up Helms on some upcoming project news including the recent rumors that he would be stepping into the shoes of Clark W. Griswold for a “Vacation” reboot and plot details of “The Hangover Part 3.”

Bradley Cooper seems to making all the right moves of late. He wasn't an instant A-lister; his career saw him working away on TV shows like "Alias" and "Kitchen Confidential" before a supporting performance in "Wedding Crashers" put him on track to bigger things, with the smash comedy hit "The Hangover" finally providing him with the right stuff. Since that film, other than a blip with "The A-Team" (which can't really be blamed on him), he's been making sound choices; a giant sequel to "The Hangover," and a surprise hit, "Limitless," sold entirely on his name.

The Wolfpack is (almost) back. Following the over $580 million worldwide succes of the R-rated comedy sequel, Warner Bros. are very eager to get Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms back for the third and final installment. And they are willnig to pay big bucks to make it happen.

As expected, the Wolfpack will be back. Again. Even before the massively successful, award-winning "The Hangover Part II" took in over $580 million worldwide, Todd Phillips was already talking up a third entry, and the resulting box office pretty much guaranteed it was gonna happen. Moreover, the director even had a plan in mind for the direction it would take, and thankfully, it would eschew the carbon copy approach of the follow-up.

With well over $300 million in box office receipts and counting, "The Hangover Part II" is a bonafide smash hit. Before the movie came out, there was already talk of a third entry in the comedy franchise and after audiences flocked to the movie opening weekend, it didn't take long for Warner Bros. to hire back Craig Mazin to get writing the script for a followup. And while the cast has busy calendars in the immediate future -- Bradley Cooper starts "The Place Beyond The Pines" this summer with "The Crow" and possibly "Paradise Lost" waiting in the wings; Ed Helms returns to "The Office" in the fall; Zach Galifianakis shoots "Southern Rivals" with Will Ferrell this summer -- it looks like they're already getting calls to firm them up for another boozy adventure.

Will The Wolfpack Head To Amsterdam Next?Well this was inevitable. After "The Hangover Part II" shattered the R-rated comedy opening weekend numbers this past Memorial Day holiday with a ridiculous $135 million haul, plans are already moving on a sequel. And as befits a sequel that was a lukewarm and ultimately pretty boring retread of the first film, it looks like they're gonna keep watering it down for the next go-round.
