Boyhood
Everything’s coming up roses for Richard Linklater these days. After stumbling slightly during the mid–2000s, the Texan's filmography is in great shape following the triptych of “Bernie,” last year’s swoon-worthy “Before Midnight” and this year’s fantastic and much-discussed “Boyhood.” With that “time sculpture” finally released, Linklater is looking for another project, and it may be one that’s been percolating for as long as “Boyhood.”

Boyhood
"That thing has been in development for over three years. Interesting how the week I have a film coming out someone decides it's a good idea to promote this. Not sure what they hope to gain," "Boyhood" director Richard Linklater told Indiewire about the brewing remake of "The Incredible Mr. Limpet," one that he also recently said "wasn't happening." So take this next bit of info with a grain or three of salt.

Boyhood
You gotta hand it to IFC Films. Generally speaking, the promotional efforts from the distributor are modestly matched with the art house and indie fare they tend to specialize in, but they are certainly going big for "Boyhood." We can't remember the last time an IFC Films project got airtime on "Today," but this morning it happened.

Richard Linklater is certainly no stranger to mainstream fare. "School Of Rock," "Bad News Bears" and "The Newton Boys" were journeys into major studio filmmaking (and let's not forget, "Dazed & Confused" was also a major studio project for Universal made at a time when the majors were toying with indie talent) but none of those are as big as what the helmer is circling right now.

Guess The Whole Giving-Away-All-Your-Money-And-Living-In-A-Trailer Thing Didn't Quite StickSo we thought Tom Shadyac was done with Hollywood? The director of “The Nutty Professor,” “Liar Liar” and “Bruce Almighty” is just coming out of an odd few years following his last film, “Evan Almighty." The director has sold a 17,000-square-foot mansion in Pasadena, given away most of his money and possessions, now lives in a trailer park by choice and is currently hawking a new documentary called "I Am." The documentary finds Shadyac talking to folks like Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky trying to figure out why mankind is more often than not competitive rather than empathetic.
