Armie Hammer has just finished his first week on "The Lone Ranger" -- in which he's playing the title role. After portraying the Winklevoss twins in "The Social Network," Leonardo DiCaprio's lover in "J. Edgar," and now a Prince Charming of sorts in a Snow White film, Hammer said he's now having the time of his life playing the legendary masked man -- a role which he calls "incredible."

When the awesome Dwight Yoakam had to drop out of the villain role in the upcoming "The Lone Ranger," we wondered who and how they would be able to fill in that gap. He has a particular screen presence that few can fill. But it seems we forgot about William Fucking Fichtner.

Having survived some very public budget battles and the possibility of being canceled outright, Gore Verbinski's "The Lone Ranger," starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, is back in the saddle with everyone they wanted, and headed in front of cameras...but it looks they're are going to need to do some casting again.

But with a director as talented and in-demand as Verbinski, he's got a number of movies in the works, either as director or producer. So we asked him to fill us in on a number of his projects, including "The Lone Ranger," Cary Fukunaga's sci-fi flick, "Clue," Chris Milk's "Bitterroot" and Nicolas Winding Refn's heist movie.

Before the whole budget crisis struck Gore Verbinski, Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp's "The Lone Ranger," a cast was being lined up that included James Badge Dale. Well, even with the delays and budget cuts and generally worrying over how many hundreds of millions need to be spent on this, everyone who was on board previously -- Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, Ruth Wilson, Dwight Yoakam, Helena Bonham Carter, etc. -- are back, and that list includes Mr. Dale, according to Deadline.

The giant financial crisis that began in 2008 is probably the single event that's had the most wide-reaching ramifications since 9/11, but, as ever, it's taken a few years for the film industry to reflect that, bar the occasional handy coincidence, like "Up in the Air." For the most part, 2011 was the year in which cinematic storytellers began to deal with the mess, from surprise hit "Margin Call" and HBO drama "Too Big To Fail" to the barely-able-to-make-rent lead in "Bridesmaids" and New Depression-era setting of "Real Steel." Even "Tower Heist," dealt with financial inequity and films like "Warrior" dealt with character struggling to make due.

Armie Hammer's had his fair share of ups and down across his admittedly brief career. Aged only 21, he was George Miller's choice to play Batman in "Justice League: Mortal!" But the film was scrapped only weeks before shooting. He spent a few years without major credits, before impressing as the Winkelvi in David Fincher's "The Social Network," and landed a major role in Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar" as a result! But "J. Edgar" didn't turn out to be any good.

The spring date is no random place on the calendar, it's the frame Disney has utilized with tremendous success for the "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movies, so no surprise, they are following that template with this film.
