You know you’ve made it when they offer you a “Muppets” cameo. From John Cleese to John Krasinski; Tina Fey to Ty Burrell, Kermit’s is a team worth pitching for. And the latest to get the Henson seal of approval is Tom Hiddleston, who eagle-eyed fans at the Muppets Henson blog (via Comic Book Movie) have spotted. The actor has joined the cast of the lazily-titled “The Muppets… Again!” as 'The Great Escapo.' For Hiddleston, it's both a pat on the back and, let’s face it, a chance to get to play something other than Loki in a Marvel movie (which, with this year's "Thor: The Dark World," he'll have done three times in three years).

Way back in the 1990s, Ray Liotta was a pretty big deal for a while there. Of course, he broke out in Martin Scorsese's "Goodfellas," but he also earned attention for playing Shoeless Joe Jackson in "Field Of Dreams." At any rate, by time 1999 rolled out, he could be cast in "Muppets In Space" as a familiar face, and he was, playing a security guard, giving parents something to smile at during the movie that they dragged their kids to. Well, it seems Liotta liked his time acting opposite the Muppeteers so he's gonna do it again.

Late last year word arrived that none other than Ricky Gervais landed the lead role in the “The Muppets 2” with “Modern Family” star Ty Burrell taking over for Christoph Waltz in one of the other two major parts. At the time it was rumored that the film was “a Euro-caper,” and now THR is reporting that Tina Fey has snagged the female lead role opposite fellow Golden Globe host Gervais.

After seeing their latest films open to massive Christmas Day box office returns, Hugh Jackman and Christoph Waltz have earned a brief respite from weeks of tirelessly plugging “Les Miserables” and “Django Unchained” on the national press circuit. However, that’s not to say those junket days yielded nothing, as the actors’ cameo comments on both the latest 'X-Men' and 'Muppet' movies prove just the intriguing opposite.

While he has dominated the small screen, Ricky Gervais has yet to find his niche at the multiplex. His lone leading man efforts "The Invention Of Lying" and "Ghost Town" didn't make much impact, while the dramatic-ish "Cemetery Junction" pretty much came and went without a trace. And while he's lent his face in support in a handful of studio films, he's still probably best known to most mainstream audiences as that British guy who insulted celebs for a couple years at the Golden Globes. Well now, he'll be bringing his wit to your children.

After “The Muppets” stuck fairly faithfully to the tone and style of the original Muppet big screen outing, 1979’s “The Muppet Movie,” it appears that its sequel will follow the “The Great Muppet Caper” in very much the same way. As the title suggests, the movie was indeed a great caper. Set in London, the film followed Kermit and Fozzie (playing twin brothers no less!) as a pair of reporters sent to interview the rich victim of a jewel thief. The new film is set to go in front of cameras in London later this winter, although we suspect the story could potentially stray into different parts of Europe, and we know that two of the key human characters will be a Russian femme fatale and an Interpol agent. We had expected Christoph Waltz to play the latter, but there’s now another actor being lined up for the role.

While everyone is focused on what Disney is doing with the next “Star Wars” film -- which won’t hit theaters for another three years -- the Mouse House is focusing on next year’s films, which include the surprisingly under-the-radar (given the amount of press the 2011 film had in advance of its release) “The Muppets 2.” Now comes word that one of the first film’s important collaborators will return for the sequel.

While all the talk over the last day or so at the mouse house has been about Disney's purchase of Lucasfilm and the revitalization of the "Star Wars" movie franchise, 'Episode VII' isnt' expected to hit until 2015. So until that happens, Disney will have to continue to make shareholders happy and exploit the brands they do have ready to go. "The Muppets" are gearing up for a return to the big screen, and the film has landed its first big name.
