Well, you can't have the best of the year without the worst, and while Cahiers Du Cinema got the ball rolling on the top films of the year, Time Magazine has dropped their rundown of the worst. And topping it all? The Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer's "Cloud Atlas."

The release of "The Expendables 2" felt like a celebration. Not only were the trailers boasting the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis in legit action roles, but it was also promising the addition of Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris to the franchise. Along with the release and buzz over two new trailers featuring Schwarzenegger ("The Last Stand") and Sylvester Stallone ("Bullet to the Head"), most saw this as a sign that b-movie action was back to the big time at the box office. Of course, the question as to whether this is star power or "star" power (with an ironic eyebrow raised) may have been answered, with the highly touted actioner finishing at $28.8 million, 17% below the first film's $35 million opening.

'Oz' & 'Frankenweenie' Presentations Are BriefAt this weekend’s D23 convention, Disney hopes to capitalize on the excitement around must-see projects like “The Avengers,” Pixar’s “Brave” and “The Muppets” by presenting a look at their entire slate of releases across all divisions. They opened with a lengthy animation presentation from John Lasseter that was heavy on Pixar (“Planes,” “Brave,” “Monsters University” and two new project announcements) and concluded with a Marvel presentation that, while brief, still managed to set fanboys hearts aflutter with a first extended look at “The Avengers.” In-between Disney faced their greatest challenge in holding audience attention for looks at some lesser known projects.

In something of a golden age for TV drama, AMC's "Mad Men" stands gloriously at the front of a very impressive pack. Only the same channel's "Breaking Bad" can compete with it, but the Matthew Weiner-created show has a Great American Novel sweep to it that makes it feel somehow more significant, with writing and direction that frequently comes close to being transcendent. As we eagerly await movement on a fifth series of the show, the program's uniformly excellent cast are starting to make waves on the big screen.

Max Minghella Also In 'Ten Year' Ensemble Why isn't Ron Livingston a bigger name? Having delivered a slew of scene-stealing performances since "Swingers" (our personal favorite: Charlie Kaufman's obscene agent in "Adaptation"), the actor has been a near-constant presence on screens big and small, but somehow never made the step-up to Paul Rudd-style leading roles, despite being the lynchpin of the cult comedy "Office Space." Hell, even Nikki Finke seems to like him, and she hates everything.

Never let it be said that we don't know how to pick 'em. Only a few weeks back, we picked our ten tips for actors to watch in the near future, and one of them was Australian Joel Edgerton, of "Animal Kingdom." We wrote that "Edgerton could find himself eclipsing his country-mate [Sam] Worthington on the A-list." While we're not quite there yet, Edgerton's just put himself well on the way by landing one of the most sought-after male leads in recent memory.
