The Red Road
Up on our list of TV to be excited for in 2014 is Sundance Channel's “The Red Road,” a six-part drama that'll be premiering next Thursday, with the first episode directed by none other than James Gray, making his small screen debut. Now, thanks to the folks at Buzzfeed, you can watch the first 12 minutes of that very episode, which sets up the show and introduces the main players.

20 Most Anticipated TV Shows Of 2014
Somehow, we're still getting think pieces on whether or not the movies are superior from TV, presumably from writers who haven't yet worked out that you're allowed to watch both. Ultimately, the movies can scratch itches that TV can't, and vice versa, and the two mediums can quite happily co-exist, even as the lines between them blur a little.

The Red Road
While HBO and AMC tend to get all the Golden Age Of TV glory, it might be time to start including Sundance Channel in the mix. Last year's "Top Of The Lake" was one of the best things we saw on either the big or small screen, and if the first teaser for "The Red Road" is anything to go by, it's going to be another fascinating, layered drama. And hell, we'll be watching simply because James Gray directed the first episode of the six episode long season.

12 Show Hoping To Be The Next 'Breaking Bad'
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone. The one who knocks knocks no more. We won't give away what went down in Sunday's series finale of "Breaking Bad," partly because we don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't yet seen it and partly because we wrote this before it aired, but we know that we're not spoiling anything to say that there's no more of Vince Gilligan's praised-to-the-skies cult hit coming down the pipeline. The show's two-part fifth season has long been planned to be the last, and Walter White's story is well and truly all wrapped up.

It's a bit of a weird day of unlikely circles overlapping. David Fincher and Tyler Perry might collide for "Gone Girl," and now James Gray and Jason Momoa will be working together. Yes, really. The "Two Lovers" and "The Immigrant" filmmaker is the latest director to head to the world of television and it's for a project that certainly sounds like it has potential.
