Runaways Drew Pearce
Exclusive: Earlier today we got a chance to chat with Drew Pearce, the British screenwriter who co-scripted last summer's "Iron Man 3," and who has written and directed a short follow-up of sorts, a Marvel One-Shot entitled "All Hail the King." We'll have more from that interview in anticipation of the short film's debut on the "Thor: The Dark World" Blu-ray at the end of the month, but while we were talking to Pearce, we had to ask him about the status of the project that brought him into the Marvel fold—an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona's "Runaways." Surprisingly, it might not be as dead as we'd imagined.

Could Be The Project 'Cover Your Assets'Peter Sollett is in talks to direct an untitled romantic comedy at Lionsgate with Anne Hathaway in the starring role. In the very vague logline, which sounds a little like it has a typo, Hathaway would play "a career woman looking to break her streak of losing romantic relationships to her job." This truly, honestly does not sound like any romantic comedy we've ever heard before! Anne Hathaway, breaking the mold! We're a little disappointed Hathaway would go in this direction, especially after "The Dark Knight Rises," where she'll probably be playing the fourth or fifth lead in a Boy's Club Adventure Movie. It could be the similar sounding project "Cover Your Assets" which is about a high-powered female lawyer used to intimidating the opposite sex, who pretends to be an assistant in order to attract a man.

Writer Drew Pearce has quickly moved up the ladder to become of the most sought after scribes for comic fare. Pearce broke out as the producer/writer of the British superhero comedy "No Heroics" and has since landed a couple of high profile gigs, co-writing "Iron Man 3" with director Shane Black and penning the DC Comic "The Mighty" for Paramount. But before both of these, Pearce had readied a script for "The Runaways," a Marvel movie that was gearing up to shoot last year with Peter Sollet ("Raising Victor Vargas,” “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist”) directing before being taken off the slate in the fall. It seems two superhero team-up movies were a bit much for Marvel to take on all at once.
