Visibly more than his fellow Canadian collaborators, Jay Baruchel has retained his hometown adoration by selecting gigs set or filmed north of the border—“Cosmopolis”, “Goon”, and “Good Neighbors” to name a few—and now he’s set for a dual repeat with two projects in the works.

First, “True Blood” fans may feel a tinge of excitement when they read that Bon Temps, Louisiana resident Lafayette Reynolds may be stepping away to the screen for a moment. Beloved “True Blood” actor Nelsan Ellis will be lending his talent to “Precious” director Lee Daniels’ upcoming “The Butler,” which has recently been lining up an ensemble consisting of Liam Neeson, John Cusack, Forest Whitaker, Robin Williams, Jane Fonda, Cuba Gooding Jr., and frankly more actors than we have space for here. Ellis will take on the role of Martin Luther King Jr., which we assume will be no easy feat, but certainly a rewarding one if all goes according to plan. “The Butler” tells the true story of Eugene Allen, a White House butler (Whitaker) who served eight Presidents over the span of three decades and was witness to all kinds of history and famous people.

It’s been a few years since the last major Stephen King film adaptation, the Frank Darabont-helmed “The Mist,” but that doesn’t mean studios haven’t been trying get in on the lucrative King business, and the past year alone has seen several different projects based on King’s books continue in development including the ill-fated and ambitious “The Dark Tower,” the Ben Affleck-helmed “The Stand” and Cary Fukunaga's "It" among others. Now it looks like another adaptation of King’s works is closer to reality.

Some horror fans may think that the 1980s was the best times for horror movies, but Hollywood's constant rummaging through the VHS bin of the era for remake material doesn't always sit well. While last year's "Fright Night" wasn't the worst offender of 1980s horror retelling (that would be "Nightmare on Elm Street" for the record), fans who took umbrage at that effort can take comfort that the original film's writer/director Tom Holland is finally back and ready to make his first theatrical feature since 1996's "Thinner."
