2012 wasn't lacking in terrible films, but it seems for the folks at the annual Razzie Awards -- celebrating the very best of the worst -- it was time to honor one franchise for delivering consistently schlocky films to massive box office success.

The 33rd annual Razzie Nominations have been announced. In case you've been living under a rock, the parodic award ceremony (dis)honors the worst films each year, usually just a few days before the Academy Award nominations are announced. This year is no different and "Twilight" fans will be receiving a little painful raspberry in the eye. "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II" has been nominated in every single categories. The Bill Condon-directed film even managed the feat of 11 nominations in only 10 categories, including Worst Picture, Director, Lead Actress, Lead Male and, well,... every other category.

There's been a plague in the movie marketing world of late. Virtually every major release -- and seemingly most minor ones as well -- is going far beyond single one-sheet artwork to sell its wares. Along with teasers, arty Mondo-type versions, IMAX editions and everything else in between, posters are released showcasing seemingly every last cast member in the movie.

Nothing says Thanksgiving like turkey, football, and Michael Sheen’s wildly inappropriate laughter. Minor anomalies amidst the numbers suggest there is a chance we’re looking at the biggest 'Twilight' film thus far, as “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2“ dominated the marketplace once again to lead the biggest Thanksgiving weekend in box office history. Its pace remains slightly below series best 'New Moon,' but it looks like it should finish ahead of the other films in the franchise.

Decline of western civilization, moviegoers aren’t smart, cinema is dead, bla bla bla. Edward and Bella performed yet another hit-and-run on the box office this weekend, and while “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2” closes this particular story with a $140 million three-day opening, you’d have to be a Grade-A Moran to think that a series that consistently produces $100 million plus weekends is going to be put into storage by Lionsgate, even if the studio now has a new ATM machine in “The Hunger Games” films.

In just a few hours, the final "Twilight" movie will hit theaters. With an impressively speedy five movies in four years, audiences have seen teen Bella (Kristen Stewart) fall for a mysterious new classmate, Edward (Robert Pattinson), stop him from committing suicide, fight off an army of newborn vampires led by the evil Victoria, get married, have a baby, and transform into a vampire herself.

And so they face the final curtain. This week "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Pt. 2," the fifth film in the franchise based on Stephenie Meyer's best-selling young-adult vampire novels, will hit theaters (read our review here). And while Lionsgate and Summit are hoping to extend the life of their cash cow, for the moment this movie marks the end of the franchise and the story of star-crossed lovers Edward Cullen and Bella Swann.

The final installment of Stephenie Meyers' 'Twilight Saga' has hit the screen with an audible, if Italian-accented "Squee!" here in its packed hormonal World Premiere at the Rome Film Festival. Destined to make a jillion dollars in its first six minutes of release, the film is already such a juggernaut that voicing an opinion on whether it's any good is a little like examining the fenderwork on the 20-wheeler that's bearing down on you at 100mph: it doesn't matter, because either way, you're going to be flattened. But hardy fools that we Playlisters are, we're going to damn well tell you what we think anyway: "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" is as thrilling, scary and swooningly romantic as this series gets. But it's still dire.

It’s pretty clear that we aren’t the demographic or audience for the “Twilight” series of films, but it’s also obvious that we’re a small contingent, as all of the films continue to be box office successes – with 2011’s fourth installment, “Breaking Dawn: Part 1,” raking in over $700 million worldwide. Lucrative is putting it lightly, but at the center of it all has been author Stephenie Meyer, who kickstarted this phenomenon of epic proportions with the book series that saw its first release back in 2005.
