You may not know her name -- or be able to say or spell it -- but next summer geeks everywhere will have Svetlana Khodchenkova down cold. The actress, probably best known for her part in last year's "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy," got her Hollywood break and nabbed the role of Viper in "The Wolverine" after Jessica Biel dropped out. And now, a little teaser of her in the movie has landed online.

After enduring some delays and the exit of original director Darren Aronofsky, lensing finally got underway at the end of the summer for "The Wolverine." And while there have been some pretty weak sauce set photos and videos thus far, 20th Century Fox have unveiled the first official image of Hugh Jackman as everyone's favorite mutant, and it looks appropriately raw.

Well, that didn't take long. In a week that saw Jessica Biel land and then abandon the role of Viper in "The Wolverine," it looks like a replacement has been found, although it's a name that's going to need a bit more room on the poster.

That was quick! Less than week after Jessica Biel had apparently signed on to play the villaness Viper in James Mangold's upcoming "The Wolverine" starring Hugh Jackman, the guys over at Collider are now reporting that "talks have broken down between Biel and 20th Century Fox" with the studio now moving on and "talking to other actresses."

Back when Darren Aronofsky was working on "The Wolverine" (which now feels like a million years ago), it was reported that he'd be essentially using an entirely Japanese cast for the film, obviously excluding Hugh Jackman as the title character, as the film reflected some of the character's most popular Japan-set tales. Nearly two years later, the film is finally gearing up for production, with James Mangold in the director's chair, and all the casting announcements so far -- Hiroyuki Sanada as gang boss Shingen, Tao Okamoto as his daughter Mariko, Rila Fukushima as assassin Yukio, Hal Yamanouchi as gangster Yashida, Will Yun Lee as villain Silver Samurai, and Brian Tee as a corrupt politician -- have reflected that.

In today’s edition of the casting round-up, we have news from a Japan-set comic-book movie, one of the two competing White House siege films, and a sequel to a movie no one really liked.

When we reported on the batch of new names joining "The Wolverine" earlier today, we speculated that was just the tip of the iceberg particulary with the film starting to shoot soon, but we didn't expect to see more news arriving so quickly, especially for such a big part. But indeed, the villain has been cast, and no, it's not a name that you're likely familiar with.

Oh yeah, "The Wolverine." We sorta forgot about this movie for a brief moment, but with a summer release slated for next year, and with filming slated to get underway in August, we suppose the wheels are going to start turning on this very soon in a big way, and a bunch of new cast members have come on board.

Stalled by a natural disaster, a director leaving and then a busy schedule, for a moment the future looked grim for "The Wolverine." But comic fans needn't fear -- a release date has been set.

The giant financial crisis that began in 2008 is probably the single event that's had the most wide-reaching ramifications since 9/11, but, as ever, it's taken a few years for the film industry to reflect that, bar the occasional handy coincidence, like "Up in the Air." For the most part, 2011 was the year in which cinematic storytellers began to deal with the mess, from surprise hit "Margin Call" and HBO drama "Too Big To Fail" to the barely-able-to-make-rent lead in "Bridesmaids" and New Depression-era setting of "Real Steel." Even "Tower Heist," dealt with financial inequity and films like "Warrior" dealt with character struggling to make due.
