You've got the cynical nostalgia cash-grab of "Jurassic Park" (which is coming out next summer in a 3D re-release, ca'ching!), you've got a Tom Cruise sci-fi film from the director of "Tron: Legacy" ("Oblivion" which is now dated for spring 2013) and now we've got three more films that finally have release dates attached to them.

“The Words” is a film divided between three stories, each one offering a possible reality to a situation that may or may not be the actual story and wrapped up in a tale about an author who steals another writer's work and gains fame. Writer/directors Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal didn't need to lift their material from anyone else, and spent the last ten years with their script trying to get it made until their longtime pal, Bradley Cooper, worked his way up the ladder in his career to help them get it in front of cameras. It's exactly the kind journey that makes for a Sundance success story.

Depending on your point of view, in “The Words,” Ben Barnes is either a much younger Jeremy Irons, or Jeremy Irons is what Ben Barnes will become over time. The British actor that's captured the hearts of C.S. Lewis fans as Prince Caspian throughout the 'Narnia' series plays one of three central characters in the closing night film of the Sundance Film Festival. He pairs up with Nora Arnezeder playing a couple in one strain of the multi-level plot of the film (that had many tossing around comparisons to "Inception"), which also stars Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saladana and Olivia Wilde in the story of a writer who achieves success after passing off another author's work as his own.

Sundance Review: Good Performances & Narrative Tapestry Can't Save Emotionally Distant 'The Words'

A combination of shopworn literary clichés combined with an “Inception”-worthy daisy chain of White People Problems, “The Words” fails to surpass dramatically the bland lack of specificity in its title while still offering a solid roundup of performances from its talented ensemble cast. Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal, who received story credit for “TRON: Legacy” (a film this writer liked a lot), wrote and directed this flashback-laden tale of a novelist coming to terms with his life and work by writing a book about a novelist coming to terms with his life and work.

Another week into 2012, another cavalcade of posters hitting the web for a handful of new releases. First up is a new poster for Jonah Hill's '80s cop reboot, "21 Jump Street." The film isn't out until March but word out of a test screening last week was very strong, indicating that this is a rare spring release worth actually looking forward to. Riding the success of his understated turn in "Moneyball," the film finds Hill back in familiar, R-rated comedy territory, hitting theaters on March 16th. [Facebook]

After Bradley Cooper’s “Limitless” was a surprise box office hit this spring, he's lined up a string of projects including David O. Russell’s “The Silver Linings Playbook,” Derek Cianfrance’s “The Place Beyond the Pines,” and “The Words,” which is premiering at Sundance. The early pics look very intriguing, featuring a gaunt, barely recognizable Jeremy Irons. The cast also includes Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, Ben Barnes, Nora Arnezeder and Dennis Quaid. "The Words" is the festival’s closing night film, which could definitely be viewed as a vote of confidence. The Black List script follows a writer (Cooper) who, at the peak of his literary success, discovers the price he must pay for stealing another man’s work. With a pretty crack cast and decent concept, this one sounds promising.

With an impressive array of titles from seasoned vets to the newcomers that Sundance was made for, 2012 in Park City should be a blast.
