Yeah, we know. Not exactly the most obvious pairing, but since both movies are about war and because we're feeling a bit of Thanksgiving laziness settling in, this is how we're gonna roll on this one okay? Deal. New posters have popped up for the war-centric films "In the Land of Blood and Honey" and "This Means War."

If yesterday, the "Act Of Valor" trailer, though jingoistic, at least displayed that the Navy SEALs do some actual work in protecting their country, it appears their brethren over at the C.I.A. have a lot more time on their hands.

Found-Footage Superhero Flick 'Chronicle' Lands February 3rdThe time at which big tentpole movies were limited to a few months a year -- the May-July summer season, and the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas -- is long gone. "Alice in Wonderland" made a billion dollars from a March release last year, and 2011 so far has already seen "The Green Hornet," a film that once upon a time would have been seen as summer fare, open in the reputed wilderness of January, something that would have been unheard of only a few years ago. Now, 20th Century Fox have slated a couple of their hopefuls for 2012 and, while both are films that could well have been held for the summer, they're going to hit theaters in February of next year.

Tentpoles That Hopefully Are Fun, Indies That May Or May Not Be Quality, Etc.You could see our annual three sets of anticipated film features like this: the Most Anticipated is an earnest example of the films we're truly looking forward to the most in that year, with a few caveats listed within if you read closely (i.e., we're looking forward to it, but the writing might be on the wall). Then our Escapist, Popcorn piece is more like: these are the fun, entertaining films of the year that may or may not be good. For us and our taste, it's always a bit of a toss up and history shows that we're generally on the money in terms of how we'll feel about the eventual product (not because we're biased, but because we know our own taste, blah, blah, blah). That said, we always try and remain as positive as possible. Frankly, if you're going to make super-hero films, sci-fi action films, fantasy/adventure films, etc. we want them to be good as touchstones such as "The Dark Knight," "The Lord Of The Rings," "Inception," etc., but obviously those films set the bar a little higher than what your average film from these genres generally aim for.
