Kevin Feige has made a pretty good case for being the most successful Hollywood producer of recent years. The 40-year-old President of Production at Marvel Studios started barely a decade ago, graduating from being Lauren Shuler Donner's assistant to associate producer on the first "X-Men" movie — the film that launched the 21st century wave of comic book film — and since then, has had some kind of role or credit on every Marvel-derived project.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
So, with the industry fretting this year about waning audience interest in 3D, with few of those pricier tickets being purchased on that all important opening weekend, leave it to Marvel to find a way to get nerds to dip a bit further into their comic book fund.

Alan Taylor has made quite a name for himself over the years by working on some fantastic TV shows. “The Sopranos,” “Game of Thrones,” and “Mad Men” are just three examples of a vast resume which dates all the way back to “Homicide: Life on the Street” from the mid-'90s. After almost three full decades of working in television, next month’s “Thor: The Dark World” (our review) will mark Taylor’s feature film debut. Overall, it seems Taylor’s experience on the film has been nothing but positive. However, Bleeding Cool has recently discovered that Alan Taylor is not exactly in love with the now standard mid-credits tag/teaser scene in the film.

The first "Thor" movie was something of a risk for Marvel. Wisecracking Robert Downey Jr. in a (relatively) grounded real world setting was one thing, but a Viking god from space, played by a complete unknown and directed by a man best known for Shakespeare adaptations was quite another. But the 2011 film, while flawed in many ways, proved surprisingly entertaining and teed up both its title character and his villainous brother Loki for a return appearance in the team-up movie "The Avengers," which turned out to be an absolute megahit. As such, the studio must be feeling on surer ground with "Thor: The Dark World."

“Thor 2: Everyone Was Asgard Fighting” is just a few short weeks away from hitting theaters like an Asgardian mallet to your marketing senses. It’s already screened for press in the U.K. this week, including our man in the London cubicle, but by Odin’s beard we simply cannot say anything right now about it. What’s it about? Well after restoring the good times to Earth and the Nine Realms, a new ancient race led by Maliketh (Christopher Eccleston) threatens to plunge the universe into a darkness they haven’t seen until the last time some baddies promised to plunge the universe into darkness. This foe is so badass that Thor has to turn to his treacherous broseph Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and form a shaky alliance with him so things don’t go to pot.

There are fans who want to go into their superhero movies cold, and those that don't, and for the latter, it must be difficult to resist the temptation to check out the marketing materials in the run-up to a movie. Especially for followers of the Marvel-verse, as the studio does blanket marketing better than most, and they are certainly picking up momentum with about a month to go until "Thor: The Dark World."
