Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer Tim Story Jessica Alba
Oh, how things have changed. The superhero genre was something that at one time, no one took very seriously, with most movie adaptations—even when as inspired as Tim Burton's "Batman"—still retaining a goofiness to them that kept them from being regarded as thoughtful entertainment. But Christopher Nolan and to some extent Marvel helped changed that paradigm, proving that treating the characters with reverence and realism allowed them to resonate much more directly with the public at large. So, even though it's been nine years since Tim Story's "Fantastic Four" (with the franchise now being rebooted by Josh Trank), it feels like a relic in today's climate. And the filmmaker allows that things have definitely changed.

Jamie Foxx Kevin Hart
With "Ride Along" banking $130 million at the US box office, it's not surprise that Kevin Hart and director Tim Story are staying close tied. They've already got a sequel to the hit comedy in the works, and later this year the pair is dropping "Think Like A Man Too." And now, they're cooking up another movie, one that will pair Hart with another major comedic talent.

Ride Along
Universal put the wheels in motion for this one last spring, so it wasn't a matter of if, but when. And indeed, with "Ride Along" crossing $120 million this past weekend—while Kevin Hart's other comedy "About Last Night" opened strongly with over $27 million dollars in the bank—it's a not shock that Universal want to stay in business with the comic actor. So why not make a sequel to the hit "Ride Along"?

Ride Along
Say this for “Ride Along,” this Friday’s big action buddy comedy: the two leads are black and its villains are a mixture of black, white and Hispanic. At no point during the film does it ever feel like tokenism or pandering, just an attempt, finally, at recreating an honest, plausible cultural makeup. The story takes place in a relatively generic Atlanta, but the streets have a bit of an edge to them: when one character insults another by guessing they’re from Decatur, there’s no attempt to explain the putdown to the non-locals in the audience, only attitude.

Since starting his studio career off strong with the solid hit “Barbershop,” director Tim Story then slowly turned in a string of mediocre releases (“Taxi,” “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”) that finally had folks questioning how he made off so well the first time. However, things changed crucially at the start of 2012, as his adaptation of Steve Harvey's book, “Think Like a Man,” garnered both critical and box office acclaim (clocking in at $91 million domestic), as well as a brewing sequel. And now Story has taken his newfound clout to a promising comedy project alongside a former collaborator who was there from the beginning.
