After the post-"Old School" stumbles ("School For Scoundrels" being the most egregious), it was nice to see Todd Phillips land back on his feet in a big way with "The Hangover" and to a lesser degree, the caustic but still enjoyable "Due Date." "The Hangover" of course was more than just a comeback success, the film went supernova and became the highest-grossing R-rated comedy of all time and turned Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms and Bradley Cooper into big stars that now lead their own movies and TV shows. Phillips himself signed a mint-like deal with Warner Bros. and everyone made out pretty damn well from the Vegas misadventure that took everyone by surprise.

With two mega-hit "The Hangover" movies under his belt, Todd Phillips is a man who has options. And if you remember, back in Feburary, it was reported that he was eyeing four different projects for his next directorial gig after "The Hangover Part III." Well, it looks like one of them is beginning to move forward.

With "Eastbound & Down" heading into its series finale this weekend, Danny McBride will be waking up on Monday morning with the hit show over and an open calendar and canvas in front of him. But it looks like he's not wasting any time in lining up something new, and it's another project with big comic possibilities.

In terms of agreed-upon proofs, it was traditionally known that the Earth is round, Samuel L. Jackson will never age, and a new “The Hangover” film will always be in development. Those first two remain true, but director Todd Phillips has just confirmed that the series' third installment will be the last.

To say that Todd Phillips has had an ongoing cinematic interest in recklessness and debauchery would be an understatement. As the director of "The Hangover," "Old School," "Road Trip" and the producer behind this weekend's R-rated found footage teenage bacchanalia "Project X," there is no one who is perhaps more tuned in to hedonistic male desires. But even before he made it big, Phillips was exploring what drives young men to the extreme ends of drunkeness and sex.

Todd Phillips’ Green Hat Films banner has been set up at Warner Bros. ever since “Starsky & Hutch” in 2004. While not every film he’s made since has been a huge hit (“School for Scoundrels” for one, but that was a Dimension/Weinstein Company picture), ever since “The Hangover” arrived, it’s helped Green Hat gross $1.2 billion worldwide.

The Wolfpack is (almost) back. Following the over $580 million worldwide succes of the R-rated comedy sequel, Warner Bros. are very eager to get Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms back for the third and final installment. And they are willnig to pay big bucks to make it happen.

As expected, the Wolfpack will be back. Again. Even before the massively successful, award-winning "The Hangover Part II" took in over $580 million worldwide, Todd Phillips was already talking up a third entry, and the resulting box office pretty much guaranteed it was gonna happen. Moreover, the director even had a plan in mind for the direction it would take, and thankfully, it would eschew the carbon copy approach of the follow-up.
