After taking a siesta from movies to go to the stage with "Frankenstein" and tend to the London Olympics, Danny Boyle is coming back hard, and he's keeping it lean and mean. Leaning more towards his early thrillers than his later crowdpleasers, "Trance" is a heist film with an intriguing psychological bend, and apparently a bit more blood than we would have expected. A new red band trailer has arrived and the nervy pic just got even more interesting.

Well, finally. After watching the marketing campaign for Danny Boyle's "Trance" heat up for its U.K. release in March, it looks like it's finally coming stateside, and thankfully, we won't be waiting too long for the movie to cross the pond.

Danny Boyle's last two films were rousing pieces of big entertainment, the crowd pleasing "Slumdog Millionaire" and the survival tale "127 Hours." Both chased Oscar glory (the former doing much better than the latter, obvs) but what does Boyle do to wind down? Deliver something a little leaner and a bit pulpier. Welcome to "Trance."

The last time we saw the talented and beautiful Rosario Dawson at the multiplex, it was unfortuantely in the Kevin James vehicle "The Zookeeper." Since then, she's done a string of indies -- "10 Years" and "Hotel Noir" perhaps the most notable -- but she's heading back toward the mainstream in 2013. She's currently lensing the highly anticipated sequel, "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," she leads Danny Boyle's spring thriller "Trance" (more on that in a second) and now she's booking a gig in a very promising drama as well.

Tonight, during the closing credits of Film 2013 on BBC1, the first trailer for Danny Boyle's thriller "Trance" was unveiled. And, a few hours later, the full thing has made its way online via MSN.

Well, this isn't all that surprising, but if it ain't broke, why fix it. Danny Boyle and electronic music veterans Underworld have never been too far apart. The director has used choice cuts of theirs for the soundtracks to "The Beach" and "Trainspotting," and the musicians soon took on a larger role, co-composing the score to his trippy sci-fi flick "Sunshine" (with John Murphy), and tuning up his "Frankenstein" stage show before being named musical directors of last year's London Olympics, where Boyle delivered a dazzling opening ceremony. And he's rung them up again. Well, half of them.

Speak of the devil. Not 24 hours ago, rumors swirled that Danny Boyle's upcoming enigmatic thriller/heist movie "Trance" had scored a March 2013 release date. While that hasn't been totally confirmed yet, USA Today has delivered some first-look photos from the film. "Trance" reunites Boyle with screenwriter John Hodge, who has written four of his films, including "Shallow Grave" and "Trainspotting," and it also marks a first for the filmmaker: the story centers on a female protagonist. Rosario Dawson is taking on that role.

Danny Boyle hasn't been lying low since taking on the Artistic Directorship for 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. In fact, before the games even began, Boyle quickly shot a heist thiller called "Trance" starring James McAvoy, Vincent Cassel and Rosario Dawson. The film has reportedly scored a March, 27, 2013 release date in the U.K. which is certainly not implausible given that English-made films often premiere across the pond before they do in the U.S.

You may have forgotten, given the brouhaha of Danny Boyle's celebrated London Olympics opening ceremony thingy, that he actually has a new movie on the way. "Trance" started filming last September, with the plan to start editing once the director's duties with the mega sporting event were over. Well, that time has arrived and today brings with it some new/old snaps from the movie. Yes, they landed last fall, but here they are as a reminder of what's in store.
