Dean Koontz’s 'Frankenstein' Set To Shuffle Its Way Onto TNT Too

When Mary Shelley sat down to pen her paramount novel “Frankenstein: or, the Modern Prometheus” in 1818, there was obviously no way she could anticipate that the themes of creation, obsession, and pure evil would continue to echo through the ages almost 200 years later. The impact is certainly most personified on film, with Universal Studios creating our modern vision of Frankenstein’s monster in the form of the Boris Karloff-starring film from 1931. It’s also had its share of C-Level interpretation, inspired films like Stuart Gordon’s splat masterpiece “Re-Animator,” and dazzling stage shows like the recent iteration by Academy Award-winning “127 Hours” filmmaker Danny Boyle. Hopefully the Shelley estate has been receiving some nice checks over the years. Anyways, there’s a few projects gestating about the creature, and now we can add another to the pile.

Today is Friday, October 19th and if you check your Aunt Zelda's TV Guide, you'll notice that despite earlier announcements, the return of "Community" is nowhere to be found. That's because the network gave a rather convoluted explanation that they might want to move it off of Friday night, and keep it in their back pocket for later in the year. Or something. Anyway, that hasn't stopped the cast from making a promo to explain that October 19th can be anything you want it to be.

Of all the success HBO has had in recent years, particularly by drawing Hollywood stars and auteurs into their fold, one could arguably trace their new network dominance back to 2001's "Band Of Brothers." The acclaimed ten-part, eleven-hour miniseries from producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks picked up six Emmys, a Golden Globe, a Peabody and many more honors, and was a big audience draw in addition to being a massive critical success. It spawned a side-series, "The Pacific," and overall continues to be one of HBO's crown jewels. So is it any surprise they want more?

Few American dynasties hold the same mystique as the Kennedy clan. Defined largely by professional triumph and personal heartache, the Kennedys are the closest thing the United States has to royalty, and as the years go by, the amount of historical miscellanea that is produced or unearthed about the family seems to grow exponentially. Even as the kings and queens of the dynasty grow old and die, which is a far less tragic exit than many members of the family, our nation's collective fascination deepens and intensifies. In case you missed it back in March, R. Kelly's glorious, insane, amazeballs "Trapped in the Closet" is coming back, this time courtesty of IFC. If you haven't seen it -- and by God, do everything in your power to catch up -- the original genius musical/drama/hip hopera was conceived, performed, sung, narrated and acted by Kelly (and a number of guest stars) and centered on a one-night stand gone horribly, strangely and surreally wrong. The good news for fans was that the R&B singer promised even more to come, and then word went quiet. Well, it appears it's coming very soon, and just time for a weekend when we'll be wanting to stretch out with the extra loose pants on.

It was back in May when we last heard about Frank Darabont's brewing "L.A. Noir," and its status was uncertain. The pilot episode had wrapped, but a decision was still pending from TNT as to whether or not they would be pushing forward with it. Now, fourth months later, not only do we have our first moody image, it comes with the news that the network has ordered up a six-episode first season of the show. A nice rebound for Darabont after an acrimonious exit from "The Walking Dead."
